Where would you live...

Where would you live if money or borders were no object?

Post pics if you've got them.

But you still have to pay US tax to remain a (fine upstanding) US Citizen right?

Police state 11-09-2003 06:36 AM

i would find a "solution" for all the immergrant scum in my country and live here:)

uuummm

1) I am a fine upstanding Englishman and i live in London

2) If I was a US citizen, and moved to the BVI I would by law still only pay 5% tax.

I was referring to moving to the BVI as my tax point and living there most of the year.....

I don't know much of anything about this... but are you sure?

If you are a US Citizen, living in BVI = or > 330 days out of the year... (from what you are saying) you would have to pay a 5% tax to BVI... but to remain in good standing with the IRS wouldn't you have to still pay your US taxes? I think you would get an $80,000 exemption though...

raceman 11-09-2003 07:36 AM

Well if you move to the BVI to live then you pay your tax earned from there as a resident. You would not pay tax in the USA.

Ypu would create an "onshore BVI company" then pay your tax through that.

Ive been dealing in offshore for a long time.

Phillip Green a multi millionnaire in the UK who owns retail stores just paid himself a £200 million dividend cheque from profits, he paid no tax on it at all, that's because although earned in the UK he lives in Monaco, he commutes by private jet every day to the UK.

Any tax that is due is payable where you live.

If you become a "perpetual traveller" then new rules out say its where you are born

I could go on but you get the point

Confusing.

I guess the tax guys like it that way though.

Clonmel, Ireland.

It's just a small town i used to live in when i was younger. I'd love go to back one day, perhaps to live. Other than that, i'm happy in Brisbane, Australia for the forseeable future.
