Buy a reg flatscreen TV or get the HDTV?

I cant decide whether I should just get the Song Wega 27" Flatscreen or spend the extra bucks to get a HDTV. I really dont want to spend more then $700 which is hard to come buy for a HDTV.

But Advent or Samsung has HDTV's for $500... but are they just as good as say a Panasonic or Sony?

I have a Vega 24" it is ok for a small bedroom but when I move into my new house I will be getting the Plasma.

I got the same deal here, my appartment has a little 21" TV and I've got about a month more before I can cash out my reward points to get a 42" Sony Plasma. I don't really want it until I get a house. I just need to get a house now :)

Sweet dude, I have a fireplace in my new house and want to put the plasma just above the fire place. I have been looking around for plasmas but the ones I like all seem to be around the $7000-9000 CAN range which is just retarded.

Get a DLP projector. Fuck a TV.

tootie 11-08-2003 02:24 PM

HDTV. I sometimes regret settling for a projection TV just because it was bigger, but unfortunately our living room is so long that we have to have a really big TV in order to see it well and they didn't have HDTVs that were that big. :(

I have a 32" Vega. Was perfect for my apartment. Now that I'm in a house I want a bigger one. :(

HDTV - right now Football is sooo great on it. I can't wait til everything is HD.

PersianKitty 11-08-2003 03:02 PM

Unless you don't have the space for a tv and have to go with flat screen, I'd say get the HDTV. Plasma is just a yuppie fad.

Do you have digital cable???

Remember that it is not only the tv, but the signal that the tv gets...

yeah I dont.. but the tv I have now is going out, so I figured within a couple years I will get Dig Cable. I am just thinking. spend the money now, or get the flatscreen now and HDTV in a few years

angelsofporn 11-08-2003 04:03 PM

picked up a 65 inch mitsubishi HD a few days ago for 2300...the plasma's were outarageous...wait 2 years and they'll be cheap

the indigo 11-08-2003 06:02 PM

I have a 52" HDTV since 2 years and never watched a damn HD channel since. I don't even know what it looks like.

lagwagon 11-08-2003 09:18 PM

Get an LCD HDTV. The prices are really coming down fast and they blow the socks off the flat screen CRT style TV's which are on they're way out.
