I'm a fan of good foreign films. I just got done watching Central Station. Wow, what a film!

Any other forgien film fans have any suggetions for films to check out.

I have no recommendations... but I enjoy foreign films too.

I heard Leelee Sobeski did a totally nude scene in a foriegn film but its not available in the USA, anyone know what its called and where to get it?

I really like foreign cinema aswell, mainly into hong kong action films, so good.

but definitely city of god. should come out on DVD in December 03

I own that one since last year, and I love FOREIGN FILMS I'm such a huge fan that a place here in san diego that specializes in foreign films knows me by first and last name. They call if I haven't been in for a week.

I agree when I saw this one I was totally perplexed to say the least. Awesome and totally real life and hard! I loved it. I cried through most of it though, because it was soo real.

Portraits Chinois-French (excellent)
Minna Tennenbaum-(French) (superb)
Run Lola Run will always be a fave of mine for the creativity aspect of the "what if" scenario

Irreversible, starring my fave french actor Vincent Cassel and the beautiful Monica Belluci- I have to warn you the movie is deep and gritty and rivals anything you've seen on rotten.com

One of the best movies i know is The big blue by Luc Besson.

Audition and Tokyo Decadence are also very good.

Audition was amazing I have to agree. The girl looked so innocent yet was fucked up completely. I love the pins and needles part, that's all I will say I don't want to spoil it.

School of the Senses -About a girl in her teens who falls for an older man with a twist. You guys will love it (Ok goodnight all)

Airbag -Spanish film and fucking funny.

hit me up - 1302636 - we have this great channel over here called Film 4. They are actually the tv station network for the flim 4 production company that does a lot of the good Brit films - East is East, Bend it Like Beckham, etc. One of their channels is an all foreign film channel. I love it.

Anyone watch Sex Is Zero? Funny ass Korean movie with subs. American Pie type movie .:thumbsup

Cidade de Deus (sorry, I don't know the title in english).... It's a story about life in a favela and the druglords....

It`s City of God, and had been mentioned, but should be mentioned a few times more. AWESOME film!!

Jean de Florette & the follow up Manon des sources - they will solve the mystery of why Gérard Depardieu is a star.

Au revoir les enfants - Louis Malle masterpiece and the first film I was shown in film class as a teen.

Run Lola Run - well duh, everyone has heard of it but it is good

Cinema Paradiso - sweet

La Notte di San Lorenzo (Night of the Shooting Stars) - A good take on the war theme.


and then what sucks is that there are loads that I have watched but don't know the names.


Ones I really want to see:

Together - I have the dvd on loan, I'll stick it in tonight

City Of God - It sold out everywhere I tried to see it and then disapeared. Should be on tv soon now that it is on dvd.

Talk To Her - I saw 15 minutes of it on tv and it looked really good but for some reason I didn't finish watching.

I haven't found Run Lola Run anywhere yet, but I did see a movie from the same bunch (director, male lead) called Das Experiment. It kicked ass.

forgot about "Y tu mama tambien", that film is one of the best I have ever seen.

The subject is too big for me.

It would be like "Music - post your favorites".

I prefer foreign films to American ones. Italian, French, British, German, Scandinavian, etc.

Have you tried "the Pianists"? i have a DVD at home but had no time watching it. Not really sure if its a foreign film.

I saw it twice in the cinema and yes it does have a foreign film feel to it but I guess since it got a major hollywood release in English I didn't put it on the list.

Great film though.

Another good french film is "The Piano Teacher" awesome and sexy.

Ok also Ofeu. I think that's the spelling, it's Brazilian and good.

What about movies made by Kusturica: "Arizona Dream" "Underground" ?

Yup - a lot of nudity in French films. Can't say that I mind it.

Drink, Eat, Man, Woman. Chinese movie. Ann Lee's (or another best Taiwanese director) best.
