Anyone know much about paintings?
I've got this really cool mythological painting I picked up a few years back... had it in my spare bedroom, somehow, someone... leaned it against a chair...
So now in the middle, its stretched out like a bubble... Anyone got any idea if this can be restretched or somehow fixed? The thing is fucking badass. =( |
Depends on how attached you are to it.
Try your local art museum and ask them about restoration work. Generally they'll be the most knowledgable on what you can do, and what it will cost. Then like all else, get a grad student/intern/moonlighter with experience to do it at about 1/3 of the cost :) |
if the painting was done on canvas and the canvas was not stretched tightly, then you can just remove the canvas from the frame
either re-stretch by hand or buy yourself a pair of canvas pliers all you need is strong hands and a staple gun if the painting was on a tightly stretched canvas, then i suggest you either go to an art restoration shop or talk to someone at a museum or local art gallery |
Thanks guys...
Its not that tight, so Im gonna see about re-stretching it... gonna be a pissy month if I lose this sucker Cost me out the ass. |
