You will learn the meaning of the word "patience" during the next 2 years.

The first 6 months are the most challenging with the diaper routine every couple hours. Your mind will gradually be able to mute out the crying sound. Watch out when you lift the diaper, sometimes they haven't quite finished squirting and you might take a direct hit in the face.

Its way easier by about 4, but still you have to watch them like a hawk. My kid accidently swallowed a lot of his Flinstone vitamins thinking they were candy. They also can walk away from you quickly.

By 8 they develop a whole new personality and you'll be shaking your head going ok where did this new persona come from as they begin the rebelious stage and start to give you attitude.

By 12 they want to be with their friends all the time and its like you don't exist anymore.

By 16, you'll barely see them anymore once they are dating.

Now they turn 18 and its off to college and that's it. They have a life of their own to discover and you have to let go. The day they leave for college is the most difficult of any for a parent, because you have to come to the harsh reality that their childhood is now over and your job is done and your relationship must now become adult to adult.

Enjoy the early years, though they are the hardest, looking back they'll leave you the fondest memories.

Enjoy! Its an adventure that will change your whole outlook on everything.
