This Member wants a refund!

I like his approach. Its like if online porn was a disease or something real nasty...

I randall XXXXXX did not subsribe any type of pornography. I am a 45 year old happily married man and i dont need to order skin flick of this here internet i only use the pc when i order my plane tickets. so obviously someone has either stolen or copy my acount number. i am sorry for the inconvenence. I just dont see how your company does there ordering foms there should probably be some better checking to see if the subscriber is useing there own acount.so if u would kindly erase the acount and refund my money. that would be kindly appriciated thank you and have a nive evening.

Now um, correct me if I'm wrong but when someone goes to their credit card company for a chargeback they'll only see the processors name, right? That's all that would appear on their credit card bill too, so why is the webmaster getting the email?

Spunky 11-03-2003 10:11 PM

Hmmm...I will try my bastard son stole my credit card next time...:Graucho

Have you checked to see if the ip he used to login to your site is the same as the one from his email. He may be using a static IP so it's worth a look.

I had a guy email me saying his brother used his CC without consent to sign up so I said no problem send me an affidavit that your brother committed fraud so I can hand it to the police as well as your bank and I will refund you. That was 2 weeks ago and haven't heard a word from him :1orglaugh

EscortBiz 11-03-2003 11:10 PM

StuartD 11-03-2003 11:32 PM

Yup, that's definitely a "my wife saw it on my CC bill and investigated and found out it was your site" scenario :thumbsup

goBigtime 11-04-2003 02:09 AM

Write him a email back like this:

Hi Randal,

Marriage can be a drag sometime huh? Ah well, we've all been there. Anyway, if you would kindly send us a CASHIERS CHECK or MONEY ORDER for the amount you would like a refund of, plus $10 for a "special situation" handling fee.. we would gladly refund your money so you can start sleeping in the bed with your wife again.

Best Regards,

Mr Pornographer
Evil Porno Company

P.S. I hope you don't share this email address with your wife :(

My policy was always to listen to the customer. If he wants a refund and indeed writes me a nice letter like this I give a refund.

It is not impossible that the cc# was stolen and in this case checking if the username accessed the site won't help. So refund him before he calls his bank and chargeback the money anyway.

silver 11-04-2003 02:14 AM

WackBacks Suck !

goBigtime 11-04-2003 02:15 AM

Why is it that people think they can buy shit and not pay for it? I can't buy a G5 dual 2ghz from apple and say my neighbor was at my house & ordered it for me without my consent so please issue a refund (and I'm keeping the primo computer)...

:BangBang: Fraudulent thieves.

foolio 11-04-2003 02:16 AM

What site do you run? Is it in any good?

If I send you the letter before I sign up is that ok? It'll save everyone a big hastle & then you can just create the account for me.

If his IP matches with his email him something like this.

Dear Mr. X

Thank for bringing this to our attention. Credit Card fraud is a serious issue. We have sent our access logs to the proper authorities. We have the utmost confidence that the perpetrator will be caught.

Our access logs are state of the art. We have the IP address of the perpetrator. Therefore it is only a matter of time until the authorities catch them.

You can rest easy. The perpetrator will probably either spend 6 months in jail or fined $250,000.

Should cause him some sleepless nights.

Lacoste 11-04-2003 05:59 AM

Followup after his e-mail:

Hi Randall,

I'd be happy to help and refund you but I am unable to find your 'unwanted' membership details.
Please try to give me the info you have such as account login etc... and I'll take care of it asap.

Kind regards,
The Staff

He replied:

You should write:

Dear Sir,

A refund check will be sent out to you from our comany, 'Tight Teen Anal Fucking XXX Dirty Porno Company'

I Doubt he'd cash a check like that :glugglug

Gemini 11-04-2003 06:31 AM

It's still possible someone else used his system and signed up with his cc and email. Too ,amy people trust using those cc, pw and email managers. So if someone was over and got on there, clicked the signup link and the manager popped up... One of his kids or their friends etc. Who knows.

I'd ask if he had one of those installed just out of curiousity. If he says he does, mention that someone COULD have used that and he was defrauded as well as you. ;-) I know if it happened to me, I'd leave the money with the company but someone would get a hiding.

Refund him and then go add a disclaimer to your join area in bright and bold letters that you WILL follow up and press charges on any attempts to commit fraud. That is enough to scare off at least a percentage of cheats. :)

Lacoste 11-04-2003 02:01 PM

I have a disclaimer on the member's area login page and its been working pretty well up to now:

ChargeBack Abuse Policy

IF YOU TRY TO DISPUTE or DENY a valid charge, your credit card or checking account along with your name and address will immediately be added to a negative database. The negative database is shared by thousands of merchants on the internet, both large and small, and you will not be able to purchase goods or services from said merchants in the future.

IF YOU TRY TO DISPUTE or DENY a valid charge, you will be sent an invoice for the disputed amount by regular postal mail. Copies will also be sent to your bank and credit card company. The invoice will include the following information:

1. The name of the site you paid to access
2. Your IP address when you signed up
3. The day and time of your signup
4. Original charge amount plus a $25 fee for dispute processing.

If you do not pay the invoice within 30 days, a second invoice will be sent. The second invoice will include the following information:

Access logs detailing when you accessed the site in question and what ISP you used to do so.

Examples of any files and/or pictures and/or video captures of any information you downloaded from the site after gaining your username and password.

If the second invoice is not paid within 30 days, your file will be forwarded to one of the 17 collection agencies that we work with on all five continents.

To avoid any of the above, we encourage you to contact us first for any problems with your membership purchase. We have an excellent track record in resolving any problems to see that you are fully satisfied with your purchase.
