anyone ever picked up a hitchhiker??
I was just pondering this....u ever picked one up??? or have u ever been a hitchhiker??? I just noticed lately that u don't see them too often anymore...too many crazies out there...
I did it for the first time when I was 18 in Paris, France..I was stranded in some unkown rural part just outside of Paris and needed to get to a train station so I stuck out my thumb and like 5 minutes later I got picked up! I have to admit I was kinda scared but I just made sure that I sat in the back just incase he decided to get stupid, u know? Anyone else got a hitchhiking story?? |
I see them all the time, usually drunk native americans around here.

only if they give me a roadhead :Graucho

My mom and I picked one up one day out in the country. When I was in my early teens I used to hitchhike everywhere!
|
Yes, and I'll never do it again.
|
Never actually picked one up. We used to screw with them though.
Hey buddy, where you headed? Kansas City? We'll tell 'em you're coming! HAHAHAHA (while driving away) |

I pick em up all the time, it's how I get most of the material for my site. But me, myself doing the hitchiking, never. |
u used to see "normal looking" ppl on the side of the road but now it's weirdos.... u never know what they're up to....I hitch-hiked all around Europe it was so cool...to meet people in different countries and then they showed u around and partied with me..

When we were kids we used to go cruising for hitchhikers, bums, and people waiting at bus stops and we'd egg them.

I used to always go to Tilden park in the bay area but the bus only took us so far, so we would hitchhike the rest of the way in, it was a really long walk if nobody picked us up.
One day on the way home we were hitchhiking for awhile and nobody was picking us up so we picked some plums just fuckin' around thinking somebody would give us a ride, some huge family picked us up, loved the plums and dropped us right off at the bus stop |
ONLY when I lived in North Tahoe. Would I in San Diego? No way!
|
i used to hitch hike once i was a dumb kid, so every now and again if its just me, ill pick one up, but i always get a good look before i do and if they look the part of a serial murderer i let em walk

never picked one up.. like I need the stress if my life if she cries rape or some shit like that -

hitch hiking is perfectly acceptable in most of colorado. In fact, there hitching posts just like there are bus stops. I used to do it all the time in college to get to the mountains.
I did have a few "natural born killer" type experiences though. sitting in the back of a pickup, on two wheels, going over monarch pass while this psycho couple were laughing and holding hands and drinking beer and smoking weed. Scary shit. |
that's crazy! u have hitchhiking posts??? never heard of that...

I use to hitchhike alot in Germany. I would just take my back pack and my skate and go for it. I have hitched in California...just along the coast. Picked up some people once as well. Saw some guys walking along the freeway with there surfboards, had to stop.

Funny you should ask, I used to hitchhike 3 or 4 times a day for most of my college years and often got picked up by people I knew and felt pretty safe doing so. I certainly met a lot of new people as well. Lots of teachers, parents, local businesspeople, other students, picked me up etc.
I would hitchhike around bus stops and usually got picked up by someone before the bus got there. I had a whole slew of signs I carried in my backpack so people knew exactly where I was going before pulling over. Thankfully those days of being really poor are over now and I'm returning the favor by picking up other hitchikers. |

I hitchhiked all over Europe for 5 years, around the US. From California to New Jersey. Never had any problems.
Last week I picked up a hitchhiker coming from Quebec City to Montreal. |
I don't trust the bastards! :(

Have never hitched, or picked one up. Just doesn't seem to be a smart move to me. You never know about some of the whacky people out there!

I used to hitch hike from the beach in SD to school every day. One side of my notebook said SDSU in big 6" letters, the other side said OB.
I met some interesting folkses that way, more than a few freaks. This one 40+ lady picked me up, started telling me about Wesson oil parties at UCSB in the 60's. She was kinda hot...started getting a little grabby. I was intrigued but at 18 I wasn't quite the freak I am now. When she dropped me off I scooted out of the car, said "Thank you Ma'am" and ran. |

I travelled across all Europe for 30 days. Was in 7 countries and I must say I loved travel by hitchhiking.

Some hooker was crossing the highway by the diner I go to and asked me to bring her down the road to the sleaziest motel around :winkwink:
