whats with the email panels on tours??

im skimming through my list of sponsors trying to choose one for my new site.

i dont want my surfer sent to your site, he scrolls to bottom and doesnt signup for the site, but instead puts his email in for some "free porn"

i dont give a shit if you will add my ref code on the spams, i dont want anything to do with it!

so far i have skipped over Flashcash, PIB, Nastydollars, i think soulcash? and some others.

damnit

very nice!

i send my hard earned surfers to this well designed tour in hopes to make a sale, and just below the "JOIN NOW" button is a big fucking box saying "FREE PORN"

WHAT THE FUCK??

Are these companies doing so badly they need to spam the shit out of the surfers? Isnt it enough they spam the shit out of every paying member, and lists they purchase?

get this shit off the tours!!!

Hey Bro..

1. 99% of sponsors have email collection boxes. Obviously if they all have them and it's been that way forever it's not a big deal and YOU can still make money with the site.

2. If you are sending to a PayPerSignup program part of the way they make money so they can afford the up front payout is through collecting emails and sending out "mailers". So you're complaining about something that per signup programs have been doing FOREVER and is part of there biz model.

Don't try to re-invent the wheel bro. Just go with the flow, figure out how to get traffic, filter the traffic and send it to various sponosors till you find the one that converts best for you.

Whether a sponsor has an email collection box on the front is the LAST thing I give a crap about when sending traffic.

Just my :2 cents:

DarkJedi 11-03-2003 04:03 AM

i agree - thats kinda stealing your traffic.
but then they wouldnt be able to pay you 35$ per signup (which is fine with me - i'd rather get 20$ without all the bullshit popups and free porn emails)

And of course everyone does that.

If you dont like it - find some less known ccbill sponsors.

nice reply, and thanks. i just wish i agreed.

i dont want my sponsors making cash on mailers, i want him making it on retention.

ofcourse its not upto me to say how they make their living, so i basically CANT, but when it starts affecting me and my living, and i am given the choice to move onto a sponsor that is not doing this, then i take it.

All sponsors will come on here and yap about how they dont want any mail traffic, regardless of how "opt" it is, yet they all want to do it themselves.

:/

Knock yourself out. That same traffic you sent there could have converted at $35 a sale but instead you opted for a lower payout because of what you "perceive" as a traffic leak.

I personally like making the most money possible and therefore figure out ways to filter the traffic right so that the "traffic leaks" don't matter.

Right now my best sponosr is converting SE traffic under 1/50 for 2 months straight AND the one site I'm pushing has consoles without ANY webmaster links AND includes a email collection pannels.

If you send your traffic right then consoles, email panels etc. don't matter :-)

Well retention is hard to do now a days. You've got a million sites out there and competition is harder than ever. You can't ONLY focus on retention. You need to look at ways to maximize your traffic and sales all around. And by doing this you make more money and therefore you payout more per sale to affiliates.

It's all one big circle. Sponsors make money from consoles, mailers, upsells, members areas etc.. and it all adds up to what they can payout.

You don't run any paysites and therefore don't realize all that's involved in running a successful program. What you're complaining about is litterally something super minor IMHO and therefore you're leaving good programs on the table because of it.

I actually do run a few paysites and have never sent an email in my life.

The difference is that i am not paying out to affiliates though, and i know that can be a huge nut.

You say its minor, but do you realize how many potential buyers submit their email address now that they are reminded of "free porn" ? I cant say exactly since i have never tested a remote panel on a splash or tour.

I dont know you or your sites so i can comment on your experience so it is a real question, have you ever tested a panel on a splash and seen real results, and hard numbers that can be graphed to show how many possible sales are being lost?

or has anyone? i think it may be an impressive percentage, but again i am not sure. It just seams like an evil thing IMO.

WiredGuy 11-03-2003 10:59 AM

You do realize that these email boxes coupled with the exits and cross-sales is how sponsors can afford to payout $35-40 per join right? They need to sell memberships at any possible angle and email collection boxes is just one of those methods.

You do realize that this excuse is the one sponsors have been shoving down our throats for years while they rake in the millions and play golf all day right?

I wonder if quiet offers free porn for emails to make "extra" money. :1orglaugh

Martin 11-03-2003 11:09 AM

I do have to agree with this dork on this one. I fucking hate the e-mail boxes too.. The boxes right under the join links are a real slap in the face.. Fucking greedy cock suckers.

Furious_Male 11-03-2003 11:11 AM

I don't like the email boxes either. At first I felt it was hard enough to get the surfer to pull out his credit card removing "free porn" from his mind only to have him offered more free porn just before signing up.

You have to wonder how many people put the credit card away when introduced this "free porn" email box. I have been in sales all my life and I have seen plenty of buyers balk just as they are about to make the purchase for the silliest of reasons. At least with brick and mortar you can regain control and close the sale. On the web once they leave my site I have no control over it. I have never seen any real numbers on this so I will leave it at that. I understand they have to do this to offer the payout up front that they do.

With that said. One thing you can do if it really bothers you is use a sponsor that allows direct linking to the join page. Many do. Sell the surfer yourself then send them to the join page.

Wait a minute richy.... NAME some sponsors that want nothing to do with optin email traffic? We have a legit double optin list and the sponsors we have mailed for beg for more. I'd like to know who wouldnt allow us to mail. We get 0 spamcop complaints per mailing.

It's so much fun that way, and you don't have to use those slick ugly tours on every paysite. :glugglug

And half of them now are scarred shitless because they are way off the Visa chargeback %%%. They Push these facilities rather than offer them - Huge difference...

If you don't like them, you can promote sponsors that don't have them. While there's not all that many out there, I am sure there are programs that do offer them. I made arrangements with my sponsors to have them removed but it also means a lowered payout...

They suck. Add it to the pile of things sponsors do to the affiliates and then brag about their cars and shit.

My favorite is when they pop shit over their own tour that I don't get paid for.

This is still the best business out there so hard to bitch but this stuff is stupid.
