FINAL NOTICE from Acacia?

So today I'm throwing out junk mail when I just happen to throw this oneenvelope out. I dont know why, but Ipull it out of the trash and opened it anyways. At the top of the letter is a notice:

FINAL NOTICE FOR INTRODUCTORY ROYALITY RATES AND WAIVER OF PATENT INFRINGEMENT

While not specific about what sites, it goes on to tell me that my "website(s)" are in violation of their patents and I need to contect them before November 30th.

What are they talking about? What kind of patents would I be in violation of when I dont even offer streaming video on my site?

I noticed a link down below about Matrix Content - and they are listed in the letter as having signed a license agreement with them. I have just recently (in the past 45 days or so) purchased a few sets from Matrix - did this Acacia really get my name from Matrix?

This is insane!

You were better off leaving it in the trash.

Some guidance for the future:

- Webmaster, do not register to view samples of product. If required, go to the next supplier.

- Content seller, do not get webmaster to register; I don't think they will from now on, even if you have a "privacy policy". Otherwise, your sales will go way down.

:2 cents:

someone should sign up to matrix with an account that lists george bush's personal website and have them send that letter to him

I've only ever purchase two sets of anything from anyone - both purchases were from Matrix in the past 6 weeks. I've been looking everywhere for a response from Matrix - have they made any official statement on this matter?

Just call them and tell them yes you are guilty of infringement.

Get out your checkbook and quit delaying the inevitable.
