Bush: The terrorism in Iraq proves we're winning

And of course the 12Dicks of the world believes it.

http://www.msnbc.com/news/965704.asp?0cv=CB10

WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 ? President Bush said Monday that U.S. progress in Iraq is making insurgents more ?desperate? and spurring attacks such as the bombings at the international Red Cross headquarters and four police stations across Baghdad that killed dozens of people.

?THE MORE PROGRESS we make on the ground, the more free the Iraqis become, the more electricity that?s available, the more jobs are available, the more kids that are going to school, the more desperate these killers become,? Bush told reporters at the White House.
He said those who are continuing to engage in violence ?can?t stand the thought of a free society. They hate freedom. They love terror. They love to try to create fear and chaos.?
But Bush, sitting next to civilian U.S. Iraqi administrator L. Paul Bremer in the Oval Office, said he remains ?even more determined to work with the Iraqi people? to restore peace and civility to the wartorn nation.

Said Bremer: ?We?ll have rough days ... but the overall thrust is in the right direction and the good days outnumber the bad days.?

Bush called those orchestrating the attacks ?cold-blooded killers.?

FOCUS ON FUTURE
Bremer and the U.S. military commander for Iraq, Gen. John Abizaid, previously had scheduled meetings with the president, Secretary of State Donald H. Rumsfeld and others here before the latest outburst of violence. The goal of the meetings among other things was to focus on what lies ahead for occupation forces.

Defense officials said earlier Monday that they thought loyalists of fallen Iraq leader Saddam Hussein likely were responsible for the latest series of bombings and described the last two days as a significant spike in attacks ? a surge of violence which showed some level of coordination.
Officials said, however, they couldn?t say just how coordinated the attacks were. One official said it was ?too early to tell? if Monday?s attacks were related or coordinated with the Sunday attacks on the al-Rashid hotel in Baghdad.
The official, who spoke with NBC on condition of anonymity, suggested there were are disparities in the modus operandi of the two strikes.
?Multiple launched rockets fired from a makeshift launcher doesn?t appear to be m.o. of Ansar al Islam [the al- Qaida-linked group previously located in northern Iraq] and suicide bombings would not appear to be the m.o. of Ba?ath Party loyalists,? the official said, referring to he two groups that have been mentioned as the perpetrators of the attacks.

?PEACEFUL IRAQ?
As they have said following previous attacks, U.S. officials vowed that the newest wave of violence will not deter them from their aim of stabilizing the country, systematically rooting out remnants of the former regime and training Iraqis to take over responsibility for security.

Bush vowed to track down those carrying out the escalating attacks, which the president said are being conducted by a minority in Iraq.

?The vast majority of Iraqis want to live in a peaceful, free world,? the president said. ?We will find these people and we will bring them to justice. It?s in the national interest of the United States that a peaceful Iraq emerge and we will stay the course in order to achieve this objective.?

Bush insisted anew that he would veto an Iraq reconstruction package overall aid package if the Iraqi reconstruction money were to be structured as a loan.

?The reason why is that we want to make sure the constraints on the Iraqi people are limited so they can flourish and become a free and prosperous society,? he said.

Last week, the White House threatened to veto the overall $87 billion aid package for Iraq and Afghanistan if any of the Iraqi reconstruction money was structured as a loan.

Congressional negotiators are trying to work out differences between the House and Senate versions of the aid package. The Senate had some of the Iraqi money structured as a loan; the House did not.

I feel so sad for those who're losing members of their family just because of this lousy war.

would be a comical statement if soldiers weren't being killed weekly.
Also someone should tell the dissidents that bombing red cross isn't good PR.

Ya know, the terrorists there are kinda dumb for blowing up shit. They should have made the US feel like everything was cool, we'd set up some puppet government then move out, leaving a small percentage of soldiers than we've got there now.
Then they could have gone wacko.

Iraq has turned into an ill planned war. The admin is botching this one bad and turning it into another pussy ass Vietnam.

I think its time to fly back the B-52's and just start carpet bombing the living hell out of Tikrit and his other strong holds.

We turned off the weapons way too early as usual. You can't win a war and secure the land if the enemy isn't killed fully.

These people only understand one thing, FORCE and VIOLENCE. And that's what they need to see from us.

Fuck these mofo Saddam loyalist towel heads. You want lights in your neighborhood cocksuckers? OK camel humpers we'll give you all some real electricity USA style. Let's start lighting their neighborhood up every night with the 52's, some more cruise missles, and the A-10's.

KRL you're right about the weapons being turned off early But here is more to it than just bombing the hell outta baghdad you gotta make the world agree... and as bad as he looks now he would look even worse if he resorted to bombing again

And you wish to negotiate with these scum?

Be my guest and while you're at it send your kids to go and get killed standing around pretending to be policemen like we're forcing our troops to do now.

My mind boggles. How much f'ing sense does this make:
"He said those who are continuing to engage in violence ?can?t stand the thought of a free society. They hate freedom. They love terror. They love to try to create fear and chaos.?"

Nobody would tear apart their own country for shits and giggles. They are doing it to prove a point, and because that is the only way that they feel they will be heard. They don't LOVe terror. And they certainly don't HATE freedom! What they want is the FREEDOM to run their own country the way they feel it should be run, without outside interference.

Now, whether that's right or not is another debate. But when Bush comes out and spurts such nonsense, it's impossible to take him seriously about anything else.

What a lame comment by Bush again

He is talking through his dirty hat again

Centurion 10-27-2003 10:25 PM

Remember the old gambit that Reagen used on Carter?
"Are you better off today than you were four years ago?"

Well, I can't wait until someone comes after Bush when he says "No one can deny Iraq is better off today because Hussein is gone."

How about, "Are AMERICANS better off now than they were just 6 months ago?"

This includes the American soldiers, health workers, bureaucrats (sp?), and anyone else currently in Iraq. And especially now that we've created a central haven for terrorists in Iraq, is our Country better off now than it was 6 months ago?

Doomed from the beginning!:(

Irak is finnaly liberated

ThunderBalls 10-27-2003 10:34 PM

Bush has learned a long time ago he can say shit like 'arsenic is a vitamin' and people believe it without question.

Manga1 10-27-2003 10:42 PM

They were saying the same shit in Vietnam until the Tet Offensive made them eat their words.
