Welcome to the club.
It doesn't seem to matter if you have streaming videos on your site or not, they'll still send it to you. It seems what they are doing is nailing everyone in the industry hoping you won't be able to fight a lawsuit and thinking you'll give in without a fight. |

I wish I had like a few million lieing around and I would use it for a staff of cock sucking lawyers whose job was to file lawsuit after lawsuit after Acacia. |
do your letters even give any domains that you're supposedly violating their patents on, or a dollar amount you owe or anything?
or are the letters just really general and they expect you to call them? I saw amp's and his was just general since he doesn't even have any sites. |

damn, i knew it |
It's just a general letter.
|
no letter yet, but my address on file matrix is wrong. I used mailbox express (never my home address) until I recently moved and haven't used my new address except for ccbill and a few sponsors. my old mailbox express box just shreds or returns anything coming there.
Best to rent a mail box for dealing in this industry. |

Juicy, you got a letter from Acacia and were pissed, you were pissed with many of the people who settled, yet you have TCG in your sig.
Last I checked TCG was one of the early companies who settled with Acacia? What is the deal? Can the guido be bought for a few bucks? I have noticed a lot of Sig Whores with TCG in their sigs making posts AGAINST Acacia, and those who settled, or "sold out". I found it pretty ironic..... What is your take on this? |
didn't sex.com try and sue everyone (before garry had it back) for use of the word 'sex' in their url a while back?
same stupid kind of idea............. |

If they want to settle thats there choice, only thing that bothered me is affliate info being sent to Acacia. I mean tbh honest its more than a few bucks at least my deal with them. Now if TCG sent my info to Acacia and said here go get the guido then that a differnet story. See i was posting alot even way before the sig buyout started. Now i still post the same amount and possibly less. Hypocritcal ,,, I guess I cant deny it , and you brought up a good point |

Well at least you are honest, and did not try to play it off or call names. It has been interesting to see how some companies who settled with Acacia seemed to be getting hit hard on the boards (Hulster), while others seem to be getting a free pass ( TCG). I was just trying to figure out why this was happening. Was it because TCG is paying posters for their Sig's thus people do not want to piss them off? OR could there be some type of agenda by others to slander certain companies? I do not know the anwers, I was just playing devil's advocate. |

You know how GFY is drama starts , people jump on the badnwagon and shit and 5 minutes later a companies name is blasted. When i got my letter, it was addressed in a certain way, and based on my own findings I know how they got it. Now if the db was stolen, hacked and so on who really knows. Second for example , TCG if they were the com that gave them my info , then you can bet i wouldnt be flying there sig. If a company wants to settle its their choice, their business, Now if they are gonna rat out 1000's of webmasters to get a better deal and save their but thats completely different situaltion |
Three points here....
1) Not sure why anybody would come to a public forum and make an announcement that they recieved their acacia letter. Why the hell would they want to go through the hassle of getting these letters certified when the people they are going after publicly confess they have recieved these letters. Screw the second and third notice - go right for court. 2) Even if the patent is eventualy invalidated, we are talking several years for that process to happen. Chances are pretty good that Acacia will make a pretty penny off of their claim before then. The patent may actually expire (I think it does in like 7 years) before it is invalidated. It is not going to happen over night despite the amount of prior art that is or is not found. More and more companies will continue to sign agreements with Acacia which will make their bank roll grow. 3) On a positive note, Flash Cash said recently they have like 20k webmasters promoting their sites so I have to believe there is more than 50-70k adult webmasters out there around the world. How many years is it going to take to take all of these "affliate" webmasters to court and win judgements against them? We are talking some serious time. First they have to decided which ones will net them the most money in the long run. and go after them first and I would bet they will go after the huge sponsor systems and AVS in court before they even think about going after those that promote them. My point = none, just pointing out some stuff I have been thinking about lately. Flow |
