FUCKING Ridiculous Epass shit!

OKay this really pisses me off and I just have to rant:

I had to pay a guy via Epassporte today... I used their online function to load $350 into the account from one of my debit cards. The site took forever to process then told me the transaction failed and to try again later. So I go to my debit card ledger online and see the $350 was taken out. Never appeared in my Epasse. So I call Epasse and they tell me it was declined for some reason (even though the debit account had more than enough AND it showed the $350 being paid to Epassporte).

Now the rub is that Epasse tells me since it was "declined" they have to hold the transaction for 5-7 business days. So basically these fuckers are playing with my money for 5-7 days and I have no access to shit. What a load of shit. That's the last time I use that. =[

Wait a minute,

KimmyKim said Epassporte was the revolution in P2P and adult payments or something along those lines.

It must be true eh?

=[ I love KimmyKim too so I hate to have to say anything bad about something she promoted too but dang if this isn't totally frustrating. Plus I lose 30mins or more on the phone trying to get it corrected.

Furious_Male 10-27-2003 08:57 AM

This is happening a lot to people trying to use the card in places that just arent set to accept them yet. For example if you go to purchase $200.00 worth of clothes. At checkout the card will not go through but the money is still held against your account for a period of time.

They need to get that stuff sorted out. I just use it as an ATM card to withdrawl sponsor payments. That works like a charm.

MarkTiarra 10-27-2003 09:05 AM

Well the saga continues... Epass tells me I need a fax from my debit, my debit tells me I need a fax from Epass. Ridiculous!

thats retarded... i tried to set up an account for like 2 weeks, kept getting some dumb ass error like my card number was invalid (which of course it wasn't) so i just said fuck'em, not worth the hassle.

hope that shit gets straightened out for ya asap

LadyMischief 10-27-2003 09:08 AM

Shit Mark, that sucks... Hope you get things worked out sooner than later!

Yeah and except I was talking about EPASSPORTE.

Trayce 10-27-2003 09:24 AM

Yep... I've had trouble with PayPal on Ebay auctions before Ebay owned them. I paid a seller via PayPal with my cc, but apparently the seller couldn't receive a cc payment, only money from my checking. I had to pay them again from checking, then I had to wait 30 - THIRTY! - days for PayPal to credit my card back. It was more an inconvenience than anything since it wasn't a large amount, but it reeks of a scam. If you do that kind of thing to enough people, you have lots of funds to play with and earn interest on before giving it back to its rightful owner.

jact 10-27-2003 09:25 AM

Mark, what likely happened is they authed the amount you requested against your debit card ($350) and then something in their checks triggered a failure. Auths will automatically fall off as they said in 4-7 days but it does suck that your money is technically "frozen" while they make you fill out forms and send faxes and chase a paper trail.

Epassporte really could have taken a little more time to explain the process to you instead of giving you the idiot version of it and pissing you off.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

A well informed response, thanks. So my question is where is the money in the meantime? Which bank is using it to do quick investments and make a few bucks with their egghead IBs a night?

Make sure to check with your bank and see if your debit card is allowed to give out $350 in a single transaction. I had a similar problem trying to buy something on EBAY once. Seems my bank took it on themselves to set my limit per transaction at $250 dollars. Fuckers! So in the future I would let sellers know to run it as say 5 $250 transactions for $1250 (incase math is difficult for you, like spelling is to me). Turns out all I had to do was go to the bank and let them know I needed a higher limit and sign some piece of paper that said I am fucked if someone withdrawls all my money so I had better have a good pin number and I have no problems now.

So long story shortened. Did your bank deny the transaction because of a per transaction limit? If so, it's not epassporte you should be flaming. Flame the bank and let me know where my money shouldn't be.

Imagine the world 20 years from now, with inflation, my old $250 limit would get me a decent pair of tenny shoes, or dinner for a family of four at McDonalds...

To be honest, I don't know the answer to this question. I think that your bank still actually has the money, Epassporte has simply reserved it as their own for possible claiming at a later date.

MarkTiarra 10-27-2003 10:33 AM

Good point and a good question but I do already know the answer. I have a $2000 cap on that debit per day. I had run into that problem originally and went through the rigamarole to bring it up.

till now i have only possitive experience with epassporte. My only complaint is that they do not allow 2checkout transactions anymore, but that's not big issue.

They don't allow 2checkout or 2checkout doesn't allow them?

Mark,

I imagine what happened is that your debit card was pre-authorized for the amount of the load, and then failed a scrub somewhere else along the line. If that's true, the money never left your account. But, it could be in a state of being held. Pre-auth's automatically fall off within 4-7 days.

If you want to send your ePassporte account name to me I can find out more details. If your experience is indicative of a problem somewhere in the process, that is something we need to be aware of and correct. There are several entities involved in a transaction such as the one you describe and any number of potential points of failure. However, I can tell you by seeing the stats that I'm not aware of any problem across the board.

Drop me a line. I'll help you in any way that I can.
