Anyone Up for sending out a get well card?

I was just wondering if anyone would like to help cheer up my Dad. During the last couple years he has been in and out of the hospital having had a total shoulder replacement, 6 bouts with skin cancer, congestive heart failure. He is back in the hospital now and they have told him he has CLL (lukemia) and some spots on his liver. Although they can treat the lukemia he has all but lost his will to live and we are all at a loss on how to help him get his sprit back. So if anyone happens to be in the store passing by the get well cards and wants to sent him one it I am sure it would be something to help him out. Just dont send anything with adult entertainment on the card or anything ;)

cards can be sent to

I'm in the netherlands so it would be hard to sent a card from here, I saw some sites where you could sent some real cards for free (with advertsiment on it) Do you now such a site?

If anyone would like to just send him a message I set this up real quick.

Sorry to hear that, it's hard to lose a loved one during the holidays. I just lost my uncle the night before Thanksgiving, he was murdered and I have the wake today.

Deepest condolances.:(

Actually no I am not but then think on this
It is better to remain silent and appear foolish
then to speak and to remove all doubt

you're a very good person.

shermo 12-01-2003 03:50 AM

I am very sorry.
I posted on that guestbook/bbs before I read this thread all the way through. I'm very sorry for your loss and I know how rough it must be. Keep your head up.

I have followed in Shemp's footsteps and sent a donation in his name to the Leukemia Society. This is a disease that takes way too many lives and we need to help fight the cause. I hope some others will do the same.

dchottie 12-01-2003 07:36 AM

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. However, you should know that a bright spot has appeared from this thread. Shemp and shermsshack both made donations and Shemp posted a site that will hopefully help answer some questions for me.

My mother was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer just last Monday. There are a couple of spots in her lungs and a couple just below her throat. They haven't finished all the testing to know if there is anything else and haven't decided on a course of treatment yet. It's a bad time considering this is my step mother that has been in my life longer than my real mother was. My real mother passed away when I was 6 from pancreatic and lympathic cancer so I didn't know her that well because she had spent the majority of my life in and out of hospitals. She passed away in the 70's two days after Christmas. Now, going into the holidays I am dealing with my other mother and this disease. It's not a fun year.

I'm terribly sorry to hear about your loss.
My prayers are with you and your family.

I'm sorry to hear DCHottie. Cancer of any type is very hard to deal with on all ends. I've lost my grandfather, close friend and my father is having his bi-yearly check up today. My father has bladder cancer in remission, but these bi-yearly check up's are torture.

To anybody with cancer or those dealing with it second hand.. Good luck to you all.
