Good stuff.

"Final Notice and Disclaimer: I know nothing about these stuffed Beanie Babies. I offer no proof of anything. It is a stuffed animal, get over it! I don't think my ex-wife was in the Black Market Beanie Trade..but then again, I didn't know she was having an affair either! Thus no gauruntees! All have theior little Heart Shaped tags on their ears. "

i was working part-time at a small gift shop when the beanie baby craze was going on around '98 or so

you should have seen the way that the ladies would look for particular ones and the prices that they would pay...it was amazing, we were selling the rarer ones for $100 each and over?one person paid $800 for a "Princess" beanie baby

i took a few boxes to a beanie baby show once on a weekend and the competition was cutthroat, there were beanie baby dealers selling them at the marked up prices (which they had originally bought/traded from other dealers). We had gotten ours directly from the manufacture, so they cost us around $3 wholesale

I was told to get rid of all of the ones in the boxes, we found out the general prices for each one, and marked ours down a bit below the lowest price; we got rid of all of them by the end of the day, the other dealers were complaining to the coordinator about us, and that we should not sell them for such a low price, and a few came over and yelled at me

It was a very interesting day

...then the bottom fell out

FATPad, this is off subject but something that i had wondered

what is your legal background?

LadyMischief 10-26-2003 05:08 PM

Heh.. both of our kids have attached themselves to "Extremely Rare" beanie buddies.. GRRR. Thanks for making us think of it.. we found "backups" for both on ebay, and we even picked out one for the new baby to continue the tradition! :)

I don't have a legal background. I have a few friends who are lawyers.

But I'm really a nice guy. :(

Good stuff.

LOL! I just sent this link to a few friends :1orglaugh

Corvett - I had some friends who got caught up in several years ago. They were going to "invest" in them and finance their kid's college when they sold. I've lost touch with them so I'm not sure how they fared, but it was probably better than those us who invested in the stock market. :winkwink:

I bought my current house from a guy who was a regional sales rep for Ty. They're currently selling their $450K home and relocating to Atlanta. :(

The question that begs to be asked is: whatcha doin lookin for beanie babies?!?!?!? ;-)

Let me know if you collect GI Joe memorabilia to complement the beanies. I have a killer deal possibly in the works. Open to anyone btw. :)
