The bank of Canada will try very hard to prop the rate up because this will cost A LOT of jobs.

Its cute the babbeling idiot-savant frenchman in Ottawa running the show thinks this somehow has something to do with Canada's economic strength.

qwe 10-26-2003 02:21 PM

ya fuck... hope it will bounce back

MetaMan 10-26-2003 02:24 PM

doober 10-26-2003 02:27 PM

hope yes, but it doess seem doubtful that it will ever go back down to where it was @ the past 6-7 yrs.

:(

OMG Shawn 10-26-2003 02:28 PM

It sure hurts when one's profit margin is small.
I was getting $1.60 CDN at one point about a year ago for a USD.
Now $1.28 CDN for a USD.
Brutal :(

But, life goes on. Just need to find new ways of doing things.
Like moving to Jamaica where we can live cheap!!! :)
The USD is worth a lot there, and it is warm and sunny all year!

OMG Shawn 10-26-2003 02:37 PM

Has anyone been to Jamaica?

Just have to sit on as much US money as you can until Bush is out of office.. hopefully things improve then.

Tease 10-26-2003 02:41 PM

GOD DAMN!

People are always bitching about the Canadian currencies. In the 1970's they bitched because the dollar was too low at $0.98US, and now people are bitching it too high at $0.77US. bitich, bitch, bitch.

I didn't bitch back then, since I did not see effects.
However, now after 5 years in this biz, and enjoying
an exchange rate of at least $1.50 for years, and when
business is built based on certain numbers, it can be
painful and even devastating for some to have
the rate drop like this.

Not that I am bitching now either really.
I'm not usually one to whine. Generally I accept the way
things are, and learn how to best work with it.
Life goes on weather we like it or not, so might as
well make the best of it! :)

In Jamaica, it costs 1.7 cents USD for 1 of their dollars.
hmmmm... winter is coming....

agreed!
I still think even if that happens we will not see the dollar as go down as it was in the past 6-7 yrs, the damage is done.

Look at this way. With a strong Canadian dollar, you now have the opportunities to acquire more sites from Americans (and there are quite a few that are selling) to expand your empire and promoting sponsors outside the USA that pay in other currencies.

Now you finally have the chance to diversify and expand your business model:thumbsup

WiredGuy 10-26-2003 04:05 PM

I am so depressed about this low american dollar isn't not even funny...

The more sites you have, the more money you make, the more non-US sponsors you can have, the more money in other currencies, etc. :)

Ic3m4nZ 10-26-2003 07:58 PM

I don't give a fuck about the currency

because when I will go in Florida & New York this winter it's gonna be less expensive..

Just about anything would be better than it is today.. And it's not REALLY our dollar rising, so much as the US dollar falling drastically.

That's about it.
Expand your portfolio of sites, add sponsors that pay in other currencies and invest abroad when your local currency is high and vice-versa.
