A motorcyclist just got mangled in my driveway

I was coming home about ten minutes ago and I get over into the left lane to turn onto the street that leads to the development I live in. Suddenly I notice orange cones blocking the turning area and an ambulance and cop cars, etc. Some poor dude is laying on the ground twisted in an unpleasant manner with his Harley on it's side and the stuff from his saddle bags spread all over the road. The car that hit him was off to one side and it had taken quite a bit of damage so you know the accident was severe.

I had to make a U-turn and come back to get to my house. The paramedics were just finishing strapping him down and loading him into the ambulance as I was turning in.

I hate to see that sort of thing. My father was hurt pretty badly a couple of times and my mother broke some bones in her feet in a motorcycle accident with my father when they were young. I've always thought it might be nice to own a bike but it's like they say, it's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when". I have a good friend who bought his first motorcycle and just learned to ride earlier this year. Of course, he thinks he's invincible but it's only a matter of time.

I don't care how careful you think you are, all it takes is one other person not being so careful and your day is ruined.

I saw a biker pull out of a shopping center and some old fart plowed right into him and sent him airborne.

a guy I know was rearended by a someone on a bike a few weeks ago... the guy's head hit the ladder on top of my friends car, needless to say it wasn't pretty.. The motorcyclist lived but has brain damage last we heard.

To put it lightly there was fragments of skull and brains on his car.. was pretty fucked up but the guy still managed to live somehow.

Yeah, it doesn't help when the person on the motorcycle is helping people kill him. From what I saw, though, it looked like the car was in too big a hurry to make the turn and slammed into the guy.

Hes alive but not living if hes brain damaged. Sad shit :(

Car vs. Bike is never good. I know MrPheer on here is recovering from a Uhaul Vs. Bike accident I am sure he can attest to that.

thats what got me into porn... I rode for a while with the Las Vegas xtremes.... we were a stunt performing street bike type thing.... but your right... I have been riding for at least 10 years straight.... and it's still not "if" it's "when" like you said... most the time it involves another car... but there are the occasions when you fuck up and lay it down... low side is better than a high side... but either way... it all sucks.... my last bike I made a total... 2001 R1 champion edition.... number 654/1000.
I was in a 4th gear stand up... some one pulled in front of me... thats all she wrote... I was out for an hour and ten.... stuck under his car....

i was on the way home one day from one of my dads stores and there was this one accident, they blocked off 3 out of 4 lanes on the side and they had to use some machine to lift the car up to get the guy from under, i presume he was dead and his bike , what was left of it was in peices, such a sad thing when this type of thing happens.

I'll post x-rays tomorrow when I get back from the Dr's office. In my case it was a hit and run, the guy jumped a curb and hit me while I was stopped at a traffic light. Had a car on my right, cars going thru the intersection, and a UHaul truck coming at me from the left. Nowhere I could have went even if I had seen the truck coming.

That was three months ago, and I still have no hope of walking for 2 more months.

They arent really that dangerous. Its riding in traffic with people in cars talking on cell phones, putting on make up, fucking with the radio, reaching for a drink, fucking around with thier friends, and generaly just not paying attention that is dangerous.

But what do I know, I've only been riding for 23 years. I'm still a newbie.

well this is the fucked up part, I wasn't there but 2 people I know were..

well the guys head hit the end of the ladder causeing the ladder to poke a hole in his head... cracking his skull and so on.. But the guy was still awake and aware at the scene.. even still talking but ofcourse in shock.. last we heard he lived but has brain damage... I'm not sure how bad, but I can't imagine it's not minor...

sad part was it was all because of a dog , all the cars stopped in the road for someones damn dog but the guy on the bike didn't stop..

Some of the young kids riding fast bikes around here aren't so careful. I have been driving for MANY years, never had a ticket but on several occasions these kids whip out of nowhere weaving in and out of traffic within a foot of the car in front of them.... those guys are doomed eventually.

For those safe driver, including Mr. Pheer.... I hope your recovery goes well and I'm sorry you had to go through that.

I see lots of that, too, but the majority of bikers are safety conscious. It's pretty clear that the rice rocketeers are more likely to behave like idiots on the roads but I'd still rather not see them bent and broken in the streets.

I have been riding street, dirt, 3wheelers quads all my life.

Been hurt on all of them except my street bikes.

I agree that its a matter of time, but c'mon, its only
really a matter of time before you get tboned by
a drunk driver while your in your car, and could have
just as bad injuries.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Why tiptoe through life, only to arrive at death safely.
