I got my Acacia Letter, but there is 3 problems with it
ok now guys, This is just way too phuckin funny.
I got a letter from Acacia, Yeah it was addressed to Marsha Youngs. But the domains Associated with this letter I don't own nor do I have the right to.. Two of the domains listed on mine were Xbiz and Xbiz Awards. Now isn't that some shit? LOL I was only an employee of XBiz. These people have NO idea what they're doing, who they're sending these letters too or what you have on your site. They are just sending and that is such bull shit and it is such a shame that our judicial system is allowing such to happen. |

Two of the companies that have settled.. I did sign up for accounts with so that the judges of the xbiz awards last year could access their sites and judge them.
And I used my real name to signup for those. Funny huh? |

I can just imagine the ensuing conversation... "Uhhh, we weren't quite ready to get around to you yet, Mr Gates, sir. Figured we'd hook up with the porn industry first, you know..." |

Better yet, get a patent for some wierd made up invention, and then send your information packets to business all over the US, to tell them what you INTERPRET your patent to mean (rather than what it ACTUALLY means) , and then accompany it with a licensing schedule. Example. A patent of having a web page that used color to highlight key words within a page in order to draw attention or help give direction to said item. Translation: Notice how links on your web page are a different color than the rest of the text, you infringe on my patent.... if the link color was the same as the text, then you wouldn't be able to tell where the link was at. IN addition, having text highlighted in a different color draws attention to the points. Licensing schedule (yearly fee): Based on PageViews: 1 - 100,000 = $1,500 100,001 - 500,000 = $3,000 etc. You have until Nov. 30th to take advantage of these introductory rates. I am not advocating that people patent everything they think of... patents are not bad, only bad patents are bad. Bad Patents are ones that prior art, or the use of the idea or the idea, existed before the patent. Patents that are novel and unique deserve some IP protection. Fight the Patent! |

Lightspeed settled and are contributing to the Defense Fund?? I thought they were a defendant against Acacia and contributed to the Defense Fund (the pooling of financial resources by the 11 defendants). Fight the Patent! |

Actually, one of the IMPA guys posted last week or week before that none of the settlers had donated or helped. Tho they did say a number of them were saying they did, when in fact they had not. |
Marsha, dont feel bad. We got the letter too yesterday. Funny thing is it was sent to a name/addy we only used at ONE place.
Was it one of the settlers? heh.. |
How can there be PRECEDENT when there was never a court decision on whether the patent was valid or not? Only precedent that will be established is the decision on the homegrown case challenging the patent.

I think webmasters who are busy buying up Acacia stocks are traitors to their own industry. I guess they are going to really be the ones to feel the punishment though when Acacia goes down in flames, and if I was one of those webmasters, Acacia's latest tactics would make me VERY fucking nervous. |
Just to get something straight, Lightspeed did not settle, did they? When LadyMischief posted that I was thinking, "How the hell did I miss that?" I would think the settlement agreement would prohibit any anti-Acacia activities, anyway.

Believe it or not. Rated Hot and a couple other sites I do host in Canada.
So the important things might be taken care of lol |

So, I'll just tell everyone that LSC settled and if no one calls me on it they'll lose a bunch of affiliates that get pissed off at them for settling and if somone does call me on it I'll just say "I believe it was my mistake" and I'll be off the hook. People, if you don't know what you're talking about, just don't talk. |
Ok :-))

Got mine today!
WHOOOOOOHOOOOOOO. |

I just registered the patent on respiration. You all have one week to pay me $1000 in licensing fees, or cease an decist all respiration activities!
