He owes me around 500 bucks
I did three flas designs for him and a database, he never paid me.
Any suggestions?

sorry to state the obvious cause 500 means a lot to some but when are designers going to get it.... show your end product as an image so that no one can take your designs before final payment (this goes for banners as well)! we have been working with the same designer for the 2 years and to this day he still shows his final work as an image for us to look at (and we pay him everytime, on time and even add extra at times).

i mean i dont see what the big deal about paying is; if you cant pay then you should never ask for the work to be done. never EVER give the final product until final payment (by the same token, dont fuck over your customer either once they have paid).

Is there any place where i can go and complain?

You can complain here and maybe other people will see your story and not do busines with him but unless he is a GFY regular with a reputation to protect, posting here probably won't get you paid.

See, when I do jobs whether it be in php or flash, I make sure to always keep the source and the project on my server until I receieve payment -- now once I receieve payment, I send the source and the project to their server... Never been ripped off... That is the best way to go things, I suppose...

as an x freelancer back in the old days here is what i learned:

Tip 1: when i was freelance all creatives were .jpgs not html with a big ass "SAMPLE" on the cover.

Tip 2: Set approval standards from the start...for example price includes 3 revisions afterwhich each additional is x dollars. They saw your portfolio this is NOT another test.

Tip3: Scope creep is a bitch.....clearly state what you will do for the money down to the dollar. Every thing extra is billable.

Tip3: Get half payment UP FRONT with half due BEFORE release of final product.


Tip4: Work hard, provide a good product for a fair price and word of mouth will be your best friend.

There are some really nice tips on this thread, and you can use them to prevent being owned the next time.

But, really, there isn´t much you can do to get that money, mainly because it´s little money that would never justify a law suit. The only thing you can do is put this person reputation into the gutter - if you are looking for some revange... But really, get over it an take care: there will always be some dishonest fucker trying to own you.

You know something Mellow at first I was a bit skeptical about your post but now I'm pretty much sure I smell a rat. How long did you say that you worked for Diesel & Co.? One would think if you really did so much for them you would at least have a working phone number for them. What's really strange is I wonder what kind of person goes on a board and makes a public post stating they want to hire a hitman to get a guy whose actually been investigated for murder on more than one occasion? You may wanna dig thru the archives of the Houston Press or Chronicle on this one. Considering I know for a fact that this outfit owns a handul of the topless and nude bars here in H-Town your story that he robbed you of $500 at first got my attention but on second thought doesn't even make any sense.
