kids of today playing videogames of yesterday

Would today's tykes tolerate the classic games you grew up with?

That's the question we asked?and answered?back in the November issue of EGM, in which we rounded up nine children of the PlayStation generation?ages 9 to 12?and forced them to play a variety of titles from the late'70s to the mid-'80s. Now read what the little scamps had to say, plus check their comments on a bonus game?Super Mario Bros.?that got cut from the EGM article. If you grew up with these classics, prepare to feel very old.

The games my kid plays are so sophisticated to the ones I grew up with.

I'll say one thing, he's developed incredible eye coordination and dexterity.

I know what you mean. I grew up with the Atari/NES generation.

I used to have a Sega Master System. The control pad consisted of two buttons and a directional pad. Not even a start button.

Now I play games on XBox or PS2 and I have to take an hour to figure out the controller. And my 10 year old brother still kicks my ass.

Does't make me feel old at all.

Time changes everything, and computers and such games have changed in progressed also.

When Pong came out that's basically all there was. It was ground breaking.

I played Space Invaders for hours because there was nothing else to play. Back then you didn't have games in your house. Cell phones? Those didn't exist also.

I think kids would be shocked to see the first home computers - the ones we hooked up to our old TV sets. Remember using cassette tapes to store data?

Hopefully some of these kids will study this crap and be able to bring games and computers up to the next level.

No kid will ever like the games of the past! Or most won't! What a shame! :Graucho I love those games!

"Tim: My line is so beating the heck out of your stupid line. Fear my pink line. You have no chance. I am the undisputed lord of virtual tennis. [Misses ball] Whoops."

"Tim: It's strange that fire moves in this and has eyes. Oh no, the fire's coming. It's going to eat you. Are these barrels alive, too? Everything's alive. And Donkey Kong's mouth is made of pluses. Look: Plus, plus, plus, minus. They're trying to teach you math by brainwashing you."

haha.. smart ass.

still #^$*ing brats. They'll never know what it was like to code your own games in BASIC.
