I wonder how many affiliate programs...

... will start raising payouts to traffic quality rather than volume... anyone doing this yet that you guys know of?

Your thoughts?

Johny Traffic 10-21-2003 12:57 PM

no but seems a good idea

myjah 10-21-2003 12:58 PM

you need to be with your program for awhile...and keep in touch with the guys running the show. If you are sending quality traffic, eventually it will pay off. But don't just expect them to raise your commission - stay on top of it if you think your traffic is worth it.

Seems like a great idea! I would pay a higher payout to webmasters that have quality traffic every day of the week.

JDog 10-21-2003 01:06 PM

That is actually a great Idea!

We've been doing that.

We pay $35 per sale on 25 sales per period or more, OR

for people that consistantly send higher quality traffic.

BRISK 10-21-2003 01:19 PM

What do you mean by "traffic quality"?

NetRodent 10-21-2003 01:20 PM

What would be the reason for raising payouts based on traffic quality? Lower bandwidth bills?

Raising payouts on volume make sense for several reasons:
1. You attract the big fish
2. You have to spend less proportionately less time per sale on large affiliates
3. Fraud is less of an issue on high volume accounts

I mean retention.

If someone can send 5 - 10 sales a week or whatever but retains higher than average than its worth paying a bit more per join.

That's what I was thinking too, but I'm not sure if that's what he meant.

GigaChris 10-21-2003 01:23 PM

our payouts have not changed & dosnt look like they will.

ezclicks & 1 click mailers = $15
platinum accout = $42
gold account = $35 - $40
link to join = $35 - 40
no pop up account = $35 flat :thumbsup

BRISK 10-21-2003 01:26 PM

I think it's more likely that we'll see more PPS progs canceling affiliates who's sales they've found don't retain long enough.

That's what I mean. I just notice that the traffic sources that demand the higher payout deals usually are the ones that never convert a trial to a monthly.

Promotional methods can vary... and affect things.

Yup, big time.

Someone can send 100 joins from a great ad, but if it doesn't match up to the site than the traffic retains like shit.

If the two can sync. then 30 joins could be more productive.

Of course there are other factors that make the 100 joins attractive still. - Exits, x-sales, upsells, emails etc...
