YAY ME! *marsha does a naked hula dance..! My advice is to keep busy.. if you find yourself wanting a cig.. go for a walk.. go grabs some weights and work out.. or grab a glass of water and a carrot.! It's all in your mind. You have to really want it to be successful at attempting it. Best of luck babe! :winkwink: |

On the day of Bryan's death, June 3, wife Bobbie and son Bryan keep a bedside vigil. The recent photo of father and son is on the bed. Bryan Curtis started smoking at 13, never thinking that 20 years later it would kill him and leave a wife and children alone. In his last weeks, he set out with a message for young people. http://www.sptimes.com/News/61599/photos/flo-well.jpg Bryan Lee Curtis, then 33, holds son Bryan Jr., 2, in this March 29 photo. Curtis would die about two months later. When I first read this article, I decided to quit smoking. He wanted you to know.. http://www.sptimes.com/News/61599/Fl..._to_know.shtml Then I used http://www.whyquit.com http://www.sptimes.com/News/61599/photos/flo-cig.jpg After the graveside service June 8, this friend and a handful of relatives light up. |
Oh wow NoCarrier! that's some story there.
I started smoking when I was 14.. and was up to almost 2 packs a day! and just laid them down. It's really easier then people think once you set your mind to it. |
I quit for 2 weeks....now I'm smoking again :(

this story will probably make me quit for good |
Well... It's not some stories.. Around 5 million people die every year from tobacco and nicotine. Since world war 2.. That's about more of less 300 million people..

I suggest everyone that really wants to stop smoking to read this pdf document

1st) I gave myself a two week notice to get mentally comfortable with the idea of not smoking everytime I had the craving. 2nd) I switched to American Spirit which doesn't add additional nicotine to their tobacco to help the body ease off the nicotine without the jolt. I smoked those for about 8 days. 3rd) I stopped smoking in my place and my car. 4th) After the 8 days or so, I switched over to the grossest cigarettes money could buy and extra light... Doral or Generic will do... So giving into the urge after the 8th day was a gross experience... 5th) On the last day, I was almost grateful not to have to smoke those shit cigarettes anymore. 6th) Anytime I had the urge to go for a smoke, I mentally compared it to eating something really fattening that is hard to say no to such as donuts or chocolate and the craving would go away after a little while. I don't know if this will work for you but it did for me. Best of luck! xoxo |
Whats greater...
The fear of dieing? Or... Fear of How you die? Human's are motivated by fear. Strange aint it? |
I did it about a week ago its pretty easy, Why would you want to support a company like marlboro who charges you to kill you.

Smoking feels good.
Theres nothing like your first cig of the day. Theres nothing like getting drunk and smoke cigs at the same time. Just dont smoke a pack a day. Lately ive been smoking 3-5 cigs a day and when im going out about 10 an evening. Nothing wrong with that. Its like any drug. You can be a coke addict your whole life without problems. You dont do it too much. |
I started smoking when I was 13 years old. I woke up one morning and it hit me... Ive already been smoking half my life. (im 26) and that scared the shit out of me. Ive tried to quit smoking many times, and always with the same results of starting back up again. They say nicotine is more addictive then heroin.
3 weeks ago i just stopped smoking. I got a bad cold about 2 days later, wich I think actually helped me out because I was unable to smoke even if I wanted to. Its been 3 weeks since my last smoke and it is tough. I still have the pack I never finished and vow never to light up again. You can only quit when your ready. Any ex-smoker knows what im talking about. If you keep saying "this is going to be my last pack" youll never do it. It can be done, the cravings do get weaker as time goes by. |
Zyban. it's worth it and it works.
yesterday was my 7 month anniversary of not smoking. smoking is fuckin gross |

Just learn to not smoke more than 2-5 cigs a day. And make 1 or 2 days a week non smoking days. Believe me, you will reach 80 this way. If not then you were destined to get cancer anyway. You know damn well it feels good...so why stop doing it? |
menthol candies would be an alternative:thumbsup :thumbsup
try it man! |
shoot yourself now.

hmmm.. better not go to www.10packs.com

There are over 4000 chemicals in a cigarette, over 40 of which are directly connected to lead to cancer. No joke.
I am an ex-smoker. Hope to continue to be so for the rest of my life. It is fucking hard. No joke. Here is how I do it - A combination of Zyban (Wellbutrin works too - same thing, just different name) and the patch in a controlled manner. This is a proven way to successfully stop smoking and I must say it does work. No joke. You can do it man. Take it seriously. No jokes! :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup |
24 hours not 1 smoke. Thanks everyone for the awesome advice. Lots of cool info on this page :thumbsup
|
Hrm - i've heard stories of people saying that even years after they quit, they can smell a cigarette and still have cravings?
Is this true? do you really have cravings for the rest of your life? |
That fucking pic is now my desktop...I gotta quit this shit...

Cravings go away, but temptation will always be there. Problem for ex-smokers is that part of the brain that was activated/damaged when smoking still remembers how good it felt (or how some people say it "how NOT BAD I felt when smoking") For some this "repair time" takes years to get over, for others only months. Never weeks... :2 cents: |
i knew some people who ONLY stopped smoking when they learned that they have lung cancer or other serious cases brought about by the years of cig smoking.
we need to learn from the experiences and story of patients who themselves had problem of quitting spent the rest of their days on medication or be laid to rest in a coffein. |
Go to one of those "stop smoking by hyptnosis" seminars. They actually work and you never even feel like you were hyptnotized...it's weird...but it works immediately... cost me $40.
~Ray P.S. Get a mouth piece for bedtime... you will grind your teeth in your sleep for a week or two... so be prepared...education is everything when making a big decision. |
