Why percentage of internet surfers actually pay attention to the status bar?

What do you think?

5% ?

25% ?

When I say "status bar," I'm referring to the bar at the bottom of the web page that changes when you pass over links.

45% +

Not really sure on the percentage, but you will get more clicks from masking affiliate codes.

What's a status bar?

depends on your sites target audience.

new / less technical surfers don't.

depends on the traffic...

my guess is SE/TYPE-IN - 5%

Using the latest IE on XP, I can't get the status bar to stay on beyond the current program session. It always starts up without it, and I have to reselect it from Tools. Maybe it's just my PC, but if this is IE's normal behiavior, I'd guess not very many watch it with the latest version.

87 percent of statistics are made up on the fly.
