talking to your lawyer about your adult biz

When you approach a lawyer for various jobs related to your internet adult biz (escrow, notary, accounting, legal corporate structure issues), should you tell him/her you are an affiliate for adult sites or just say stuff like you make money from affiliate programs and leave it at that? I am talking about tax lawyers, domain lawyers, etc..not necessarily anything particularly adult related like legality of content, lawsuits, etc...My concern is that many lawyers may not want to do the job for "ethical" reasons - do lawyers refuse jobs associated with businesses they may not like?

If a lawyer wont take your money because your associated with adult.. then he is a lame ass.. and you should find another lawyer.. all lawyers care about is money..

To me its a waste to build a relationshio with a lawyer , you cant be honest with. My accountant knows what we do and we can speak openly about it . This way he can help me the best way possible with my business.

I think its good to have a relationshio with lawyers

Don't hold anything back.

Your accountant and lawyer should be the two people who know your business inside and out, including adult. These people are here to help you and represent you. They won't be able to do that to the best of their abilities if you hide the fact you do adult.

I'm soliciting a very prestigous lawyer with unique knowledge and experience and don't want to blow it, that's why I want to approach it delicately as I don't know his attitude to adult - he certainly does not need my business... I think I will say we do affiliate programs such as casino, subscriptions, oh and a bit of softcore adult entertainment. What are some good questions you can ask to see if they are open to it - I guess it's the same stuff you'd ask a girl who might want to be a nude model!

Be completely honest with your lawyer. If things get fucked, he could be your only friend. Make sure he's ready to protect your ass.

At first was a liitle bit hasitant to tell my accountant everything ... but now! Nooooooo.... TELL THEM EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING!!! And yes there are ALOT of accountants/lawyers who just refuse you because of adult.

Why 10-19-2003 05:19 PM

my accountant and lawyers work together, in same building and everything, i am totally upfront with them, i live in a big yuppie neighborhood. they were upfront that if i got in any legal trouble regarding the operation of adult sites, or shooting of porn, that they could not defend me, for basically policital reasons and possible lose of clients if they were "the folks that got the pornographer off" but they handle everything else. and they know where the cash is coming from.... good thing i dont run adult sites or shoot content. but they know good attorneys that do.
