modeling, for money or attention?

Ok I was having a rather interesting conversation with a photographer friend of mine in Berkeley this evening, and I was telling him about a girl I'm shooting on Saturday. I told him that I was stoked about finally shooting chicks, and mentioned that it's kinda like some erotic dream. He kinda went off on me and said that that comment wasn't professional, and that I better not "check out" the girl I'm shooting or else I'm gonna give her a weird vibe and fuck up the shoot.

So I told him that girls that are in this business pretty much do it cause they're attention whores, and get a kick out of this type of stuff for reasons other than money (typically). He basically called me an asshole and left it at that.

Which brings to mind a question, do you really think it would offend a model if you told her she's fucking hot? Do models do this stuff more for money, or attention?

tell her shes hot, but dont flirt with her. shit, half my models try & get me in bed before we even start shooting. i do my best not to drool over them. at least not obviously. lol

If she is posing nude for money she has little or no brain cells to begin with. Attention whore is just a given.

Hold the cam with one hand and jerk off with the other, she'll luv it.

i dont think its possible to make a blanket statement that "all models...."

but i have had between 75-150 girls working directly for me for several years and have had probably well over a couple 1000 come through the door and i can say that at least 80% or more care more about attention than anything else. most of them seem to be insecure about their looks or themselves and they thrive on the attention and compliments. we have many girls who would not care if they got paid or not.

guys are stupid. a girls smiles, winks, tosses her hair and the guy is in love.

girls are very much the same. a guy tells her she is pretty, has beautiful eyes, a nice body, etc etc etc and it works just the same. i watch the girls in the chat rooms get owned all the time in very much the same way they play with guys.

Wrong.

If this were the case then I would not have so many ugly girls responding to ads and it would be easier to get hotter girls more often.

Agree or disagree and no disrespect meant to the models out there but the bottom line is that most of them want the attention just as bad as they want the cash. Most of them are fucked in the head in one way or another.

If you said the girl was hot or complimented her in a friendly sort of way that would be fine. But if you wouldn't shut up or you checked her out over and over it would probably creep her out and it would show in the pictures. If you want good photos you need your girl to be as comfortable as possible no matter what her reasons are for doing it. But I think you have to compliment her at least a little because if you just say "okay lie there, take your clothes off" she might also feel uncomfortable or in a lot of cases would start becoming insecure. The girls I've worked with have all done it because they like being exhibitionists. They like to get paid but hey, I wouldn't do any job I wasn't getting paid for so I don't blame them for wanting to get paid.

clubsexy 10-17-2003 05:07 PM

So you mean they don't like it when you drool, rub your dick and tell them they are making you hard??

It does good for me when I am shooting a POV blowjob scene or other various hardcore shoots.

Not every shoot is a fashion show ya know. Most of the chicks get off on getting you hard and horny. And sometimes the photographer is also the male talent.

:2 cents:

AmeliaG 10-17-2003 05:10 PM

Nothing wrong with telling a model he or she is hot. Just don't be creepy. Don't make it look like you are offering sex if you are not and don't make it look like you are asking for sex if it is just supposed to be a photo shoot.

I used to interview models for a black gay site. That's the best job I've ever had, stroked 10+ big black dicks everyday. :) Mostly they don't care sex offer, or were even happy, maybe that's the difference between guys and girls. :321GFY

:glugglug Don't worry... when you get down to real work shooting images, you'll soon get tired of looking at flesh and wondering how to "present" it differently :winkwink:

By far, almost all of the girls I've known over 20+ years are in the biz for the money - and no, ya don't tell em 'how hot they are"!! Be professional! Truth is you will end up being friends with many.

Only thing I noticed is... some aint' got a clue about the value of money and hop along to the local mall and spend $1000 on some shit designer handbag - maybe one day they will learn :)

You are so right! I know some Playmates who spend so much money on their handbags and clothes that they have to take the bus around town. They can't afford the car payments....kinda sad IMHO

There are only a handful of us that are into the business aspect as well:thumbsup

KCat 10-17-2003 07:18 PM

For me it's definitely the attention. I was a webmaster/photographer shooting other girls long before I set foot in front of the lens. I jealous of the girls I was shooting!

'Course, the money is nice too. I work cheap. hehe.

StacyCat 10-17-2003 11:32 PM

Well, I love the attention. And I wont model for any photographer that creeps me out, so I like the comments. :-) Part of being an amateur, I guess. Money is okay, but I like being an exhibitionist.

oh yah for sure, especially if the photographer is the male talent. But you gotta feel the girls boundaries out. You should be able to tell if your compliments are creeping her out or not. If not it might help the shoot because she might be just as comfy with you as she would be with a boyfriend taking pictures. But you can't just act like that from the beginning unless you get a vibe from her that she is okay with it because you can tell in photos when a girl is uncomfortable.
