Kill Bill - Review by Bdjuf

AHA! bdjuf comes back with a new review!
this time it was the movie "Kill Bill"

let me start off by being brutally honest, the movie is only about killing people and pure GORE. Viewer discretion is strongly advised. ppl taking eyeballs out, chopping brains out, etc, really visual!

let me also tell you that this movie is INCREDIBLY UNIQUE. the way it was made is very bizarre yet interesting. An example of this is the way the movie is told, it is just like a book with chapters, and each chapter is an adventure (killing) of the main character.

Also, the movie is presented in various different ways (cartoon, black and white, slowmotion, fast motion, etc...)

The music in the movie made me ---> :eek7
spanish music in the winter? very VERY wierd

one of the main goals of this movie was, without a doubt, to be as unique as possible!

the fighting scenes are EXTREMELY violent and visual. most of them are long and enjoyable to watch. Realistic? most of them are, in my opinion. (fighting style is mostly samurai and shit, no guns involved... OLDSKOOL!)

In conclusion, this movie was very VERY unique and the fighting was brilliant. If you enjoy watching ppl getting chopped into pieces for 2 hours and some, and dont mind the fact that there are wierd parts in the movie, then this is a must see movie for you

GO SEE IT, and enjoy its "uniqueness" :thumbsup

I actually went to go see it tonight, but when it was starting, the fucking projector broke, so they gave us a free pass and let us choose another movie to see, so I went to see "The Rundown" instead :(

Quentin Tarintino (sp?) is a freak!

... and I mean that in a good way! :winkwink:

Most of his movies are unique, ultra violent, and have great fight scenes or shoot-outs. He has an incredible grasp on how to use and explioit pop culture for great entertainment value.

I want to see this one!

:thumbsup

You didn't like The Rundown?

That movie was pure mindless humor, action, and entertainment!

I never thought I 'd say this, but The Rock rules!

Some of those fight scenes were fuckin' incredible!

The movie was ok. I actually thought that it'd be better than it was. I agree that The Rock does rule, but didn't think that the movie was as funny as it could've been. There were a couple of good parts in there like with the monkeys, ha ha ha, but other than that, the humor was kinda dry.

Oh yeah, those fight scenes were incredible, that was one good part about it :thumbsup

The movie is a bit too linear for the choppiness of the chapters.

Personally I was expecting something a bit more Tarantino style, here he takes each scene, and chapter, and tries to focus it on the characters involved and portrays everything in a surreal reality, like its not really happening, but more like a retelling from memory where some parts can be embellished.

There were a few good unique elements like the opening scene, the knife scene, the blink, anime, and anime style in real life.

But aside from those visual elements, there wasnt much else mind fucking going on. I mean there certainly was, but at this point the plot is too straightforward so you arent really confused and the story so far isnt that interesting. There is no emotion from most characters so its hard to really care, not to mention you know that she will survive at least till chapter two, so there are never any doubts. But thats a problem of production company which decided to cut the movie into two parts. Guess it thought that people could not sit through 3:30 hours of the movie straight from start to finish.

Can you say The Matrix? Or The Lord of the Rings?

Bigger movies split into smaller parts is a growing fad among movies.. And a good one, I think it makes the movie awesome

bump for the needy :winkwink:

Kill Bill did it for me...unfortunately, I saw SPUN about 3 hours earlier and it detracted from the effect. SPUN is top ten movies of all time.

gornyhuy 10-15-2003 07:35 AM

Sounds amazing... Gotta get out to see it this weekend. Thanks for the review!

I definitely agree with this. People are starting to realize how horribly most sequels turn out. But at least in slicing up big movies, they have a single continuous story line - and not only are they better quality in general - but they leave people hungry for more. I mean honestly...who didn't rewatch the Fellowship of the Ring before going to see the Two Towers in theatres? It boosts their rentals Im sure.
