SUV Questions
I am considering to buy a new SUV. I like Ford Excursion, Expedition, Hummer H1 and H2, GMC Yukon XL Denali, Chevy Suburban. As you can see I prefer full size vehicles.
Of course I will put chrome 20" to 24" wheels on it and Skyjacker suspensions on it so the vehicle will be higher. Which vehicle and wheels should I choose. |
I think you're just making this post to make people think you are rich. :2 cents:

My wife has a 2002 Escalade and I would never buy another one.. Thing is in the shop every 3 months as things keep breaking on it.. We have had over 7k in repears made thankfully all under warenty...
Nothing wrong with the engine, however the buld quality sucks... Going to change it for GMC Yukon with all the toys early next year... |
Test drive the new Honda Pilot. Its got the best rating for SUV's.

youre going to raise the vehicle on 20-24 inch wheels? do you need a cat scan?
go out, buy the 24s, cause anything smaller is made for a mini truck, and either leave it stock height or lower it. If youre gonna raise it, do it right, buy a set of 44 inch boggers and a 16 inch lift and roll through like that. |
You'll be dissapointed with the H1. I've had one, it was ok to drive as a toy, but you dont want to take it down the interstate.

I bought my wife an excursion limited (v-10) the dam thing is a gas guzzler at about 10.9 miles per gallon.
I feel safer knowing she is driving that around town with our three kids rather then the station wagon we had before. Though people around here don't much like the Excursion. People in Boulder are freaky they leave notes on the car that are not too nice. They complain about the cars size, and say it is just another example of typical American excess. In total 3 notes and a pizza box with their "comments." In my point of view it had nothing to do with excess, or penis envy, heck, I never drive it. I just wanted to make sure my family is save from crackhead drivers. The vehicle is built like a tank. I have read some reports about rollovers and stuff recently, so now I'm a bit concerned. |
If you were really concerned about their safety, you would have done research and found a vehicle that is actually required to be crash tested to determine occupant safety and not some POS on a truck chassis that "must be safe because it's big." But what do I know, it's big so it must be safe right?
Think about this...how much safer would your family be if they were in a vehicle that acutally had the ability to avoid an accident? You're not "safe" by virtue of the fact that you can't stop or steer out of trouble so since you know you'll be going head on into disaster at least you'll be the biggest POS in the pile. :glugglug I won't get into the gas guzzling argument...but I do find it funny that large cars that get 16 MPG are taxed as gas guzzlers at purchase while large buses (like the Excursion) that get 10 mpg are not. You want to drink gas at that rate, you pay for it. Simple as that. |
Navigator. Save your money on wheels though, you may need it some day.

Excursion/Expedition:
which one do you prefer? |
|
tell me where I can buy that truck
|
no other suv's you recommend?
|
I have heard alot of complaints about the build quality of Escalades.... Interesting.

The VW Touareg is the best bang for my Buck at around 35-40 thou is great value, dose 19 miles to the gallon and made in the same factory as the Porsche Chayenne. In fact most of the parts are the same for $20,000 less than the Porsche.
Check it out at http://www.vw.com |

I love my expedition. Not too flashy no problems, big enough but not too big, perfect.
Mine's black with grey leather. Great for long distance traveling. I guess it depends on whether you care about who turns their head to look opposed to practical comfort. :thumbsup |

I just bought an 03 Expedition, the closeout prices on the last model year were too good to pass up.
Whatever you buy, make sure it is over 6,000 lbs so you can use the SUV loophole in your taxes. Whatever % you use for business can be taken of the car's value in depreciation for the first year--up to 100%. Personally, I love my $30k tax write-off! (for those who aren't aware, search for info on the SUV loophole - vehicles with a combined weight rating over 6,000 lbs are classified as "light trucks" and can be deducted fully as equipment). |
