Fucking computers....(venting, cussing, the usual)
 

This past weekend has been hell on wheels for me with computers.

Friday, I go and buy another 256 stick and install it along with a new modem for my desktop. Both do great for all of fifteen minutes when my computer shits the bed and will not restart, giving me the message of "DISK BOOT FAILURE"

Figuring that I can take it to my favorite tech on Saturday, and since I've been using my laptop to connect and get internet things done, I push the button to start it and go get a soda. When I get back, the laptop is still off.

Mmmmkay. Push the button again, the lights come on, then die. Because I'm a nitwit and not wanting to believe that my computers are both dead, I keep pushing the button.

When it finally sinks in that I'm computerless, I frantically call my tech. He's out of town and won't be back until Sunday.

So I got no work done.

Sunday, I take the desktop to the tech who take a couple of hours to runs checks on everything and then tells me that my HD is so far gone that he can't get any data from it at all and I need a new HD. He sells me the HD and sends me on my way.

I get home and start things up, everything is lovely, until I try to connect to the internet. It can't find my modem. Okay, I figure that it just needs to be reinstalled, so I do that and install the drivers...nothing. Install it in the husband's computer, works just fine, so I let him have it.

I have to buy a new modem, and if it doesn't work, then I'm going togo back to the tech and tell him to salvage everything that works off this piece of shit and go buy myself a new one and add all the extra goodies to it. This is insane. I'm getting no work done because I can't do shit on my computers. *bangs head against wall*

This would be so much funnier if it weren't happening to me, but eventually this will be funny. I swear. I just gotta get to the point of it being funny to me.

Oh I have been through this several times. Add one new thing and the computer freaks out and something else blows out.

I'm seriously thinking about selling tickets for a $1/ea to take a sledgehammer to it. The college tech geeks will love the idea.
