ah gotcha

Why 10-12-2003 07:47 PM

7:45pm up 23 days, 21:39, 2 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
7:46pm up 37 days, 3:58, 2 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

couple of my servers.

10:02PM up 113 days, 11:36, 1 user, load averages: 7.04, 7.55, 7.26

and that load is fairly good for that box :(

PbG 10-12-2003 08:06 PM

If it stays like that 90-100% of the time I would not add anymore accounts to it. In fact I would probably be looking to get some off that box. We like to keep server loads really low (<0.25) and save higher loads for uexpected bursts of traffic. If these stats are only for the 15mins denoted in the summary and they normally stay under 0.75 then that is good. The fact the box has only been up 2 days is not a big deal unless it goes up and down more times than an 11th Avenue hooker. Adding software and/or regular updates may require reboots.

Now that person with 852 days of uptime is shall we say FUCKED! As that means their kernel has not been updated in almost three years! Not good!

This following box was up for 88days before I rebooted it after installing some software.

8:02pm up 1 day, 17:55, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.03, 0.00
140 processes: 139 sleeping, 1 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped

The following is a new box I have been doing some tests on:

20:04:37 up 4 days, 12:19, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
77 processes: 74 sleeping, 2 running, 1 zombie, 0 stopped

Holly shit
That load is way too intense for a server if you ask me
Thats unreal. What kind of performance are you seing with that load? sites comming up fine? what OS are you running? BSD?

5:17AM up 43 days, 6:31, 1 user, load averages: 0.02, 0.03, 0.00
5:17AM up 102 days, 16:45, 1 user, load averages: 1.00, 1.00, 1.00

xxxoutsourcing 10-12-2003 08:22 PM

8:20pm up 0 day, 00:01, 1 user, load average: 0.31, 0.28, 0.19

I like to reboot and I wrote a little script that just reboots the machine in a loop.

I've done about 377657 reboots this week, which is a major increase in reboots from last week so i'm happy.

it's all about rebooting!
