Unix compression format, similar to zip or arj. You can use Winzip or similar decompression program.

It's a tarred and gunzipped file.......like a zip file in windows, but it's a *nix file. Winzip or Winrar should both open them, or you can ftp it to your server and ssh in and type "tar zxvf filename" ( without the quotes) and that will decompress it.

gunzip < twink.tar.gz | tar -xvf -

or tar -zxvf *.tar.gz (quicker for me)
