good house, good car (now I have MB CLK 320), good clothes, good restaurants everyday etc. :Graucho |
depends what state you want to live in.
california is extremely over priced, southern states you can live nicely for relatively cheap (however the job market is questionable), the north east is fairly average priced. also depends on your spending habits so all is relative. |

however, to have say a car there, it has to pass the states emmision laws. if you move to another state, you have to sell your car. i believe that cali is the only state to have that law (i could be wrong; i dont follow emmission laws cause i live in the northeast. one of the guys who works with us moved here last year and had to sell his car beforehand because inspections in this state do not accept cali cars (he moved from california) and it was a real pain in the ass. the smog is a big issue out there too. however, if you like a beach that has clear water, cali is nice but then again so is florida and florida is cheaper. |

but don't go to america if you can't even calculate |
Clearly depends where you want to live in California.
You can get a nice place for 1k+ a month. Of course different areas have different rent rates, but over all for a ncie place, rent is expensive here. Utilities arent that bad, insurance rates suck. Theres no tax on groceries. Going out to clubs is expensive, 5-7 bucks for drinks, parking is 1-20. Parking tickets are very high. 45 bucks for parking on the wrong side of the street during clean up which is Wednesday and Thursday. An ounce of marijuana is just a fine like canada though. :) |

it doesnt make sense on the simple fact that Cali regulates emmissions. Why would a state not accept a car that runs CLEANER and gives off less smog than a regular car?
weird. but she is correct in every couple years you have to get your car inspected to make sure it doesnt give off too many gases. it costs 40 bucks and takes about 20 minutes unless you have problems with your vehicle. if you dont pass you gotta fix it till it passes or get another car. I think smog checks are good. all cities should do this, the world would be a much cleaner place if they did. |
We have emissions testing here, too.
I'm not sure why someone would think that moving out of Cali means you have to sell your car, though... |

all i know is that he could not bring his car out here and expect it to pass inspections. he did his homework before he came out here which is how i know (plus my uncle works for the local inspection union in north nj which is where my colleague got his info). i wanted to move to cali until i found out how much more expensive it is compared to here and i didnt think anyplace could be more expensive then nj/nyc. now i am considering big fork montana :winkwink: |

I wouldn't be booking that flight too soon... You have to apply, and be accepted for a visa that would allow you to move here first. They made them pretty hard to get in alot of cases. :glugglug
