Ok granted yes I was the first as I knew about it before it launched but none the less HAVE YOU DONATED??!!!???!!

If each webmaster/program owner donates to this cause it gives them a nice pool to draw money off of for prior art and legal battles.

As soon as I heard and read what the hell was going on ...
I said this was a cause that needed attention.

And the simple question to me has always been ( because SexEducation.com is 100% anonymous) is what will happen when Acacia says we don't believe your sales figures....

yes Brutha Ketadream, you were the first (and your pledge covered your $100 pledge and the pledges of a couple more).

When i started the Pledge Drive, i was told by many people, that i was crazy to think that i could get 2,500 webmasters to pledge $100 each because they said that most webmasters:

1) don't know about any of these patent abuse issues

2) don't care about the issues

3) high on something

4) are cheap bastards

5) are frugal bastards


I, on the other hand, feel that given the fact that the big players have settled, there is even more reason for the rest of the industry to group together.

I remember having several converations with a highly respected big player (his company settled with Acacia), and saying that the adult industry was like a big family, and he was like the father... and that competitors helped each other.. sending traffic to each other, signing up for each other's affiliate programs, etc.

Having several webmaster resource boards where fellow competitors could share information on issues that affected them and their peers.

There is a sense of community here, that doesn't exist in mainstream.

Being a lurker for the last 5 years, this is my observations.

So, i took all those negative things listed above and just filed them away, i choose to be optimistic, despite being a business man with realistic vision... i believe that the goal can be reached, and i am willing to devote my personal and professional time to ensure that webmasters are informed of the issues, pledge their support for FTPF, and once the goal has been reached, to fight for all websites right to use audio or video.

I say that it is everyone's right to have audio or video, because the innovators that created the underlying technology did not patent their innovations because they wanted people to expand the communication reach of the internet... they have given you the right to use audio or video.. .Tim Berner-Lee, the creator of the World Wide Web, gave you the right to have websites, without paying him a licensing fee.

If you believe you have the right to have audio or video on your website, then take stand, join the fight, and pledge.

As you can see by the counter below as of this post, $5,700 is a long ways from $250,000.

Someone asked on some thread.. i forgot where if there was a list of companies that settled with Acacia...

I'm not going to keep track of that kind of list, sounds more like a hitlist for boycotting and public lynching, something that i feel is not the right kind of responses to business making business decisions in the interest of themselves and their customers.
