A general rule is to play according to your own plan, to play your own game regardless of how the opponent plays. To act rather than react.

i agree, at least in terms of chess. however, your opponents mistakes must also be taken advantage of...

hmm, i guess i don't think of life in terms of chess. i always play chess to win. in life, i'm not *only* interested in 'winning'...

thats rediculous.

you cant possibly play a game of chess and have the entire game worked out before heading to the board, you MUST determine moves based on opponents moves.

That's interesting. I guess I play to win, too, but I'd like to think that I also play for the experience, to learn a bit and for the enjoyment of it.

SO, to me, yeah, it's a lot like life.

Plus, you learn a lot about the people you play with.:thumbsup

Play the board dude...look at the present situation and make your move based on how you want to mold the board.

Exactly. When I said "play according to your own plan" it was'nt with the assumption that you have the entire game mapped out in your head...
