They are all ass rapists and the exchange rate is virtually the same among all members of the Canadian banking cartel.

Basically take the current Bank of Canada rate and -2.000 and round down to 2 decimal places.

Great day you picked for exchanging.. I think the noon exchange rate was lowest in 6-7 years and lowest so far this year.

magicmike 10-10-2003 11:12 AM

The exchange rate is pretty low now.

Here is the bank of canada link

http://www.bankofcanada.ca/en/exchange.htm#

I'd imagine that the big banks have similar exchange rates. You can open a USD account and convert your money online if you watch the rates to get the best %.

:thumbsup

Make sure you set up a US account if you haven't already.

LadyMischief 10-10-2003 11:59 AM

If you're smart, you'll sock it in a US account and keep it there until the exchange rate gets better.. We already get assraped on exchange, but it's even worse with the exchange where it's at.. Only convert what you have to, sit on the rest.. Think of it as an investment.

I have 2 US accounts... But I should have gashed those US $ last December.... I didn't.

I do not think that our currency ( Canadian) will go back down to those levels. In fact, I think it is going to get worst, because it is not our currency that is strong , but the US$ that is getting weaker.

I changed a lot of my members site to Euros... No loss in exchange there.

you can't and its going to get worse. could hit 1.25. if interest rates get dropped like they should, the dollar could settle around 1.3sh

best case scenerio for the next 3-6 months is 1.35

don't fucking hold USD at this point, a lot more risk of it dropping further than going up.

chowda 10-10-2003 12:33 PM

keep it at the bank.

I just cashed some cheques and found out the same thing, damn I wish that bubble we were on the last 4 years or so would of never bust :BangBang:

jacker 10-10-2003 12:35 PM

USD account...only way to go

Muff 10-10-2003 12:36 PM

The bank of Canada won't let it slide much further. If it does our manufacturing industry will go into a reccesion.

Companies that do alot of exports are losing millions as it is now.

Wow, but if the bubble brusted, the exchange rate would go to 2.0. So it could be a good thing for some people. :Graucho :Graucho

Exactly, they're going to drop interest rates so the exchange doesn't slide any further.

The CDN rate is much higher than the US right now and that hasn't been helping exchange rates.

BlackCrayon 10-10-2003 01:07 PM

i got 1.29 today too at TD. fucking blows, suppose i should of waiting till tuesday maybe. i can't afford to hang onto it in a US account right now so oh well. just gotta hope that the US economy gets better i guess. don't see any other way out of it.

My Canadian bank account is in USD , but when I tried to transfer a few hundred $$ from my paypal account to the bank , paypal refused to send USD to Canada .

They insist on changing the $$ to loonies .
Soooo , I have to pay Paypal for changing the USD to Canadian $ , and then pay the bank for changing it back to USD .

they want to keep inflation in a certain range, if they drop rates too much inflation could jump too much. so they may not drop rates enough to offset the drop in thr USD.

Open a US account at the TD waterhouse. Then you can paypal back and forth in US.

The Euro thing is a special deal I have with business relations in France. Sorry, I can't say more.

Little edit:

When I did that deal , Euro and US were basically identical. Today, it looks like this:

Product : 1 month access (recurring)
Duration : 30 day(s)
Amount to pay : 19.95 Euros
About : 23.53 USD, 14.13 GBP
31.08 CAD, 2556.86 JPY

take a atm paypal debit card
the us cash is automaticly transfered in canadian money when you take it a the ATM, or you can use it for spending everywhere they accept mastercard

WiredGuy 10-10-2003 03:45 PM

I use Custom House, they guarantee to beat all quoted bank rates from the top 5 banks here in Canada. With a claim like that, I use them for all my foreign exchange needs. I think there is a minimum of $2500 to do exchanges but well worth it.
