Where do you get all the galleries? Do you take submissions?

I'm considering taking submissions or paid spots, but for right now the galleries are a mix of sponsor galleries and template galleries hosted on our servers. I don't know the exact numbers off-hand, but it's mostly galleries hosted on our own servers.

Yea seems theres buggs to be worked out of the setup script.
It should kick in and work the next time the thumbs updates otherwise your gonna have to get ahold of fucking bill to do it manually.

Are we supposed to host the thumbs? or are we hotlinking to them?

I believe the script contacts your server when its supposed to update and the script on your server grabs the thumbs and replaces the old thumbs...
so thers no hotlinking going on. :2 cents:

No, it's not a thumb management script. It's designed to retrieve and rotate our galleries.

The thumbs are transferred to your server. We host the galleries, but the thumbs are hosted on your server.

Also, thanks to you guys who have tried this out. Very sorry about the problems with the initial setup. We've been testing it for a few weeks on our own sites and everything seemed to be working fine. But of course, as soon as you go public with something, it all blows up. :)

I don't see what you feel is wrong with it, it's very similar to another traffic back program that a well known broker has been running for ages. The difference is that it uses thumbs rather than 10 links saying "teens"

Not looking to get into an arguement here, but I don't really know what that's supposed to mean. I didn't promise anyone anything, or ask for any money. I'm certainly not ripping anyone off.

It's fairly obvious that I get traffic to my galleries for providing the service. I'm not hiding or disguising that. I'm also not suggesting anyone create an entire site based soley on these galleries. But for a busy TGP webmaster who wants to save themselves a bit of maintenance time, using this system to augment their own content can be a definite bonus, plus you get a little extra traffic back.

I'll ask one more time. Do you own the licence to these thumbs so we can legally display them on our sites or is this totally illegal?

All the pics used are from sponsor provided content, which they license for use in the promotion of their sites.

In case you didnt know, its illegal to display content on your site unless you own the licence to it. Thats what the fuck I'm talking about. In this case its sponsor hosted galleries so hopefully the sponsor allows this guy to start a program and distribute their content so everyone can display it on their sites.

Just to be totally clear. SOME of the galleries are sponsor hosted. MOST are galleries I made and are hosted on my server. But ALL content is sponsor provided. If there's any sponsors that wish to not have their content included in this program, I will gladly remove any of their content as soon as possible, if asked to do so.

It just sucks that it's my bandwith for Sponsor content, I might as well use sponsor hosted galleries and make all the money.

The thumbs are on your bandwidth, yes. But the galleries are on ours. Most, if not all, of the thumbs are under 5k. The way everything is set up, you can link to as many, or as few of our galleries as you want. It will do up to 192 galleries a day so that if you do want to create a full site out of it, you can. But even just adding 5 or 10 thumbs to the top of your page can help keep it looking fresh without using up much bandwidth at all.

Nothing's gonna be perfect for everyone. If I hosted all the thumbs as well, it would become much more complicated to get links working correctly through traffic scripts and I'd most likely need a server just to take care of all the requests for thumbs every time someone's page is loaded.

This started out as a simple script just to help myself and my partner keep our own sites updated automatically. After we got it working we realized other people might be interested in using it for their sites as well, so we decided to add a bit more functionality to it and open it to the public.

Just wanted to add that we just put 1045 new galleries online. Total is now over 5600 with more on the way.

Also wanted to say thanks again to you guys that signed up already and helped with working out some minor bugs in the initial setup process. Things seem to be running smooth now.

In the case of sites hosting thumbs that link to the coresponding gallery, this is LEGAL. Several times this has been tested in court.

It is back up. We had some unavoidable downtime this morning. There was a hardware failure on the machine. Server was swapped out for a new machine, and upgraded as well.
