Threatening phone calls

A friend of mine has repeatedly got very threatening phone calls late at night from a stranger who seems to know her.

She is 5'0 and lives by herself, so she is very freaked out.

Does anyone have any experience with stopping threatening phone calls?

Oracle Porn 10-09-2003 08:33 PM

Damn dude, tell her Im sorry...didn't mean to freak her out

nosey 10-09-2003 08:34 PM

unlisted #

:1orglaugh

It was a woman who was phoning her.

BradShaw 10-09-2003 08:35 PM

Ask her to stay with you, to be safe. Buy some wine, and bang her.

Kimmykim 10-09-2003 08:36 PM

Have her block the number. If it's unlisted then she should be able to add the service that wont take calls from unlisted numbers without them redialing with their number in caller id. Then she can also call the phone company and complain, there's some legal ramifications for communicating threats over the phone.

Or if it is a chick making the threats to another chick.... If you play it right, you can have a 3 some.

Thanks KimmyKim!

I just found something like that ...http://www.usa.att.com/localhelp/com...n.jsp?state=ny

What she is most worried about us that her address is in the phone book. Even if she unlists it now, this person knows where she lives.

How about calling the police?

Materialist 10-09-2003 08:48 PM

Report it.

nosey 10-09-2003 08:50 PM

don't ever answer the phone again!

Yup, stay with her until the next call and then you answer and say something like "oh yeah? why don't you come over here and make me then?"

Instant threesome :glugglug

Now that I think about it...the threats were full of double entendres...maybe you are on to something there.

cosis 10-09-2003 08:54 PM

not to answer it always worked?

thanks but not answering is not what we were worried about.

"Lori, come outside so I can kick your ass" is what we were worried about.

She phoned the cops but they were not helpful, so my friend went over to be with her.

There was a service that Bell Canada offered about 3 years ago (it might still be there) which was to log the phone number with the police of harrassing calls. After she hangs up on the caller, it was entering *55 on the phone. This basically logs the phone number as a harrassing call and she should then contact the phone company to begin the official investigation.

This was a long time ago that it was offered, I honestly have no idea if it's offered any more.

Thanks WG!

I looked around for something like this.
It is called a 'Trap' here in ny. but they can only put it on your line for two weeks. I guess it requires alot of data storage.
i think we may put in that privacy manager, so people have to leave a short message, which she hears before she decides to take the call or not.

Your welcome Mike. I think by law the phone company does log all inbound/outband caller information but can only store it for a very short period of time since that data grows so rapidly. So doing this kind of service is a little hard to offer.

Hope your friend works it out.

The calls are at totally random times but thanks for the offer EscortBiz

I had to make my # private where the caller has to leave a short message before you can accept it... the calls stopped the next day.

That's what I get for correct whois info huh? ;)

It only cost me an extra $4.95 per month with AT&T...so it's worth it... :thumbsup

I registered some domains at GoDaddy the other day and I see they have a privacy service where your WHOIS info doesn't show up. Great idea to prevent that kinda stuff :glugglug

KRL 10-09-2003 10:18 PM

Play along with the caller. Setup him up for a fake meet.

When he shows up have a dozen hardcore bikers from her area's local Hells Angels chapter waiting for the cocksucker.

He'll never be heard or seen from again.

These guys are very good at taking care of problem people like this and they enjoy doing it.
