Images saved as .bmp???
Every now and again all images I try to save off the web are saved as bitmaps... sometimes I was able to run Disk Cleanup and it corrected this.. but it's happening again and cleaning things out doesn't work anymore.
Anyone know why this happens and how to fix it? |
Oh no not again....
|
Clear your cache
|
Clean you temporary internet files
|
Already did that... I'm asking here because it doesn't work anymore

does that to me too
it saves all images from the web as a bitmap, it sucks because i can't download the banners from sponsors also, when downloading, i can't chose open from location, i have to save it to my disk or it won't work |
I get it all the time too, some sites only tho.
|
Some sites hosted on Windows servers that run DAF
WIll do this to every image. It Sucks, we have to make everything into a zip for people to Download. If you run one of those pic stealing programs, it will save them in the right format. All the screen shots here save as BMP if you right click them |
I think it's a way picture owners deter copyright infringers. Not sure though. The easiest solution has to be save them as bmp and correct manully from other image editing softwares. But there are some certain image mining software that can grab all pictures from a site and save as JPG. I used to download a free one, but not sure about them now. Called image miner something. Do a search.

Most people will get .bmp with or server, even with New computers... So, nothing you can do to stop it. There will be a few people, that are able to save them as .jpg depends on computer / os/ browser/ eye color, just kidding |

I had that problem too can't remember how I fixed it though...
but take at look at these sites maybe you can find the answer: http://support.microsoft.com/default...NoWebContent=1 http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win2000/t998605951 http://forums.techguy.org/index.php? http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthread/t-2323.html |
Try EE, It clears ALL the Windows BS. I run it at least once a week to deleate JUNK that windows collects, also your machine will run faster. No link, I'm not selling it, I just use it and it helps. If the site is running protection software then the .bmp problem will still be there.
Just My :2 cents: |
I had that problem too and that was a problem too much for me. So I changed to mozilla and that problem (and a few more) is gone :)
