do you suggest joining the US military?
 

a friend of mine is thinking about joing the military for 4 years. do you think this is a good idea??

All I can say is I hope he likes sand, camels, and towel heads cause that's where he'll be as soon as he's finished basic training.

why not? if you have the proper training you should be able to handle anything that happens, then after you can move down to mexico collect the monthly pension, and live the high life with the senoritas and cervezas:thumbsup

Best thing i ever did,

It was great experience and it helped me get the good jobs when i got out without having any experience.

I was taking advantage of the GI Bill also, they was paying me like 1k a month to goto school and it only cost me like 2k for the whole semester so i got to pocket the rest.

btw, you'd have a higher chance getting killed in a car accident then getting killed in combat.

the military has over 300 jobs in each branch. less than 10% of the jobs are combat arms

hah You just described 99% of all 18 year old males.

from my experience getting in the military at 18 is just like going to college with real world experience.
Unfortunately you got the mean old Uncle Sam riding your ass the whole time, so your not as free to make alternative choices
