MicroSoft and MIDI files

Just curious. Yesterday I installed the new recommended Windows XT updates... and now I have no sound with midi files.

Anyone else experience this?

check your MIDI Music playback device.
check your MIDI in your volume control.

ive studied and crafted synths my entire life since I was a kid, and you are somewhat correct.

im into modular synths myself.

my first synth was a Moog WAYYY back in the day.

been crafting filters and oscillators ever since.

I grabbed this screenshot for mrthumbs the other night check it.

I have friends who TEACH synthesis. Im building a VST plug in right now.

Sigh... thank you very much for your advice. That is where the problem was. THANKS AGAIN.

Fletch XXX 10-07-2003 07:19 PM

the reason i mentioned the Roland Juno 106 was because of its HYBRID analog/digital nature.

MIDI was born then and its still not used to its full capacity.

IM going to build a PREPARED PIANO next.

http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prepared_piano

And with the latest Moog technology, can run a laptop midi sequence and control a real piano.

Nice.

when you get your VST built post it..
I'm always looking for new ones...

someday I plan to learn how to use them ... other than for the presets ; )

I like this one ; )

The Truth Hurts 10-07-2003 07:26 PM

using orion platinum as the host, btw.

Fletch XXX 10-07-2003 07:30 PM

heh.

i have nearly every available commercial VST, prophet rules, as mentioned I have friends who tech electronic music whether its Pro Tools classes or Cubase Sequencing etc. The price difference is amazing. If its 400 bucks in the store, I get it 80 bucks hahaha

I also showed mrthumbs a sneak peak at the skin.

Its nowhere near done but I play it often :)

Good stuff.

Some of those screen captures look really kewl.

Meanwhile... sigh... seems with new Windows XT update, everytime I play a midi, I have to raise the volume on soundcard synth, it being zeroed.

JDog 10-07-2003 08:08 PM

I took it to heart homie, i know you know your stuff, thanks. Once I get these LFOs and a follow up ADSR in place it will be much more functional, im having problems with a few modules but will get it worked out within the next few weeks. Ive been buried in design work for about a month havent had much synth time.

Anyhow, cheers man.
