Teacher accused of gagging pupils


A Chilean teacher has been accused of silencing his nine-year-old pupils by taping their mouths shut.

Parents of five youngsters at a school in Barros Arana, Araucania, accused Salvador Veraga of gagging their children.

La Prensa online reports the parents claimed their children suffered sleeping problems and bed-wetting.

Vergara denies the charges and says he was just playing a game with the students by encouraging them to communicate through signs.

A police spokesman said: "That teacher is not very psychologically prepared to handle kids.

"We might think it is funny what he did, who wouldn't like to do that to kids sometimes?

"But it is a serious accusation and we are taking it seriously."

I went to kindergarten to pick up my 2 year old daughter last year, and the teacher had tied her to a chair -

There was only one teacher/carer and about 15 toddlers - Mine apparantly was being a bit playfull when they should have all been sat down for lunch -

Of course she was wrong and I was pretty mad at her - But in her defence she was left alone to look after a whole load of toddlers and I guess she couldn't quite handle it -

Teacher training in certain countries leaves a lot to be desired.

A danish school teacher recently got charged with assult for taping a deef kids mouth too. But the court ruled that it was OK to tape a kids mouth if they woulden't shut up....

Teachers used to do that to me in school...but I don't blame them...lol..I was a real shit disturber at the age of 10 :1orglaugh

2 year olds can be a handful and if you have several - Can be too much - She didn't harm my daughter - But I didn't see everything and my daughter was pretty unhappy when she reaized she wasn't going there again - So no bad affects on her.
