Looks like the murderous tiger got lucky, won't be put down

wtf is that all about?!

Montecore, the 7-year-old male white tiger involved in the incident, would not be put to sleep. ?[The tiger?s] future is bright,? Yuman said. ?He will continue to thrive. There?s no blame.?
Without the show, the fate of the tigers is also unknown. Montecore continues to be quarantined at the hotel.

the tiger's future is bright??! What about the fucking guy he tried to eat? They really need to put that fucking beast down and turn him into a rug.

Sly_RJ 10-07-2003 12:07 PM

He's a WILD tiger who will do WILD things. There's no reason to put him down.

I agree.

magicmike 10-07-2003 12:11 PM

Whats to gain from putting the tiger down?

Matt M 10-07-2003 12:14 PM

Roy, requested that nothing happen to the Tiger. That is why it will be spared.

digi 10-07-2003 12:19 PM

Put the people who are dumb enough to play with tigers to sleep instead.

figured it musta came from him.... cuz otherwise that tiger would be suckin' on lethal injection right now.

and you bleeding hearts can cry for the tiger all you want, but you seem to forget that here in the good ol' US of A, animals that attack humans ARE put down. Dogs, snakes, cats, rhinocerouses, alligators, birds, bears, hippopotomouses, and white tigers too.

Bulldog-Johnnie 10-07-2003 12:25 PM

From Paul at ConsumptionJunction-

A good friend of mine, Sean Clarke, who has spent many years working with large, angry cats, told me that it?s never a question of if you?ll be attacked, it?s a question of when. ? but 35 years without incidence is a damn good run when you?re dealing with 700 pound predators.

Somtimes the animals win... Pure and simple.

Haha. Yes, I'm a bleeding heart.

Amputate Your Head 10-07-2003 12:27 PM

not sure I'd say the tiger won exactly.... without the show, he'll most likely end up in some fucking zoo now with 4 year olds throwing popcorn at him all day.

Yes but he's part of an endangered species.. not just some mutt off the street. They would be better off to send him to a reserve and keep him in the gene pool.

And not only that, but SEVERAL members of the show itself who saw what happened actually believe the Tiger was trying to HELP Roy, because he fell BEFORE the tiger got to him. They believe he was trying to take Roy offstage to safety, like they down their own babies.

sherie 10-07-2003 12:29 PM

Well you can take the cat out of the wild, but you can't take the wild out of the cat.

If you wanna be a dummy and try to tame a wild animal then you know the risks. No need to put him down. Sorry you just can't compare a dog and snake and other house pets to a freaking tiger IMO.

You can TRAIN a wild animal, that doesn't make him tame.

Roy also SPECIFICALLY requested in the ambulance that NOTHING HAPPEN to his cat.

okay, how about alligators? They're put down in Florida all the time.

FATPad 10-07-2003 12:31 PM

I thought they tried to relocate alligators in FL when possible?

I could be wrong, I don't even know where I heard that, but I seem to remember hearing it.

Yeah..and even Tippi Hedron, who HAS been attacked by a tiger in the past, and works hard still to preserve them, said that it was something that probably would have happened, and it's something that should be EXPECTED to happen sometimes when dealing with animals that are meant to be wild.

Yeah most animals they relocate, but if the animal continues to come back or keeps being a nuisance, they sometimes have to put them down.

I'm still laughing at this statement.

I just imagined the tiger chillen in the Honeymoon suite, eating raw steaks from room service

Triple 6 10-07-2003 12:39 PM

Actually now they have special liscenses for harvesting alligators, anyone who lives here can tell you there's no shortage of 'em.

detoxed 10-07-2003 12:39 PM

It all started when the cat didn't want to move into position on stage. When a 600lbs. cat with 4-5 inches of sharpened ivory fastened in vise-like jaws doesn't want to do something the smart money says leave him alone. Even the small cats, as little a 30lbs. can fuck you up in nothing flat. When you work with these guys the facts are simply that you have to expect them to try you every once in a while and how you react may mean the difference betwen you surviving your encounter or not.

Rich 10-07-2003 12:48 PM

hahahaha, yes, one of those tiger's finally got fed up with being in a homosexual vegas act and fucked up Roy, it's about time. :thumbsup :1orglaugh

Well if someone had an alligator as a pet and had it their bath tub then no, kill the owner I say. However, if he was uninvited and in my house and a threat to me then I would kill the fucker.

The idea that cat wanted to do anything short of killing his handler is the biggest load of shit I have ever heard in my life. First off, males have ZERO to do with rearing cubs. Secondly when a mother moves here babies, she moves them before they are big enough to move themselves, usually they're less than 5 pounds at this time. They are capable of being extremely gentle with their mouths when necessary. Tigers kill their prey by severing the spinal cord or delivering the "coup de gras" by sinking their enormous teeth in the base of the prey animals skull. And although the cat was probably not considering the handler as food that bite (based on where and how he bit down) had some very bad intentions behind it.
