After being loyal to this company for 17 years I'm getting laid off in 3 weeks.
I work as a tech in the petroleum/aviation industry.

They hate the Union so in their attempt to break it,they are hiring only contractors and they are laying off most of the techs.Some have been with the company over 20 years.

yea but the way the tipical union works, the companys have allmost no choice but to move off shore... not saying your union is the same... but in reality how many companys can afford to pay workers $30-$40 dollars an hour and still make a profit in the world market, when compeating with companys paying only a fraction of that per hour?

True..but this company is Canada wide..We are the only union here in B.C. and they hate the fact of the pension plan and full benefits as well as the protection.
