NETSCAPE rocks the casba!!!!

Ok, after getting so many scripting errors in IE I very dreadfully switched browsers to NS.. and let me say, what a fucking HUGE improvement, and not just with fixing the problems I was having..
This Browser is fucking incredible and I totally recommend anyone and everyone to go get the latest version of Netscape and give it a try for at least 3-4 days.. you will totally become hooked on it.. about 15 times faster for loading pages than IE, you can have multiple windows within a single browser window..

NS rocks! and I will swear by it.

This will especially be the case a couple of years from now, since Netscape has recently announced pulling the plug on the Netscape browser development.

Lane 10-05-2003 05:47 PM

go for mozilla before considering NS

KRL 10-05-2003 05:51 PM

Looking back many years, I remember when everyone would only use Netscape and the concensus back then was tha IE sucked. I was a devout NS fan and then became totally hooked on IE when they got their act together.

Over 95% of the web is using IE though so it doesn't make sense to switch to Netscape, if you are a web developer.

Probono 10-05-2003 07:23 PM

Try Mozilla, Open source Netscape great browser

gornyhuy 10-05-2003 07:29 PM

My betamax kicks ASS. After all those problems with VHS and DVD I fearfully switched to betamax and MAN is it better. :2 cents:

JDog 10-05-2003 07:30 PM

Mozilla all the way (which is practically the same as NetScape!)! Fuck yea!

Lonny 10-05-2003 07:35 PM

I like Netscaoe over IE/Perfer opera any day

harvey 10-05-2003 07:56 PM

sorry unconnected, but now you'll have to bear with a bunch of birdbrain kids who are in love with Billy Gates and cannot understand that you prefer a non-bug worm/virus-free non-spam non-exploit internet browsing tool over some crap with so many "on purpose exploits" designed to spy everybody and due to this the most expensive end-user software tool in history :winkwink: well, you looked for it :Graucho

George Bush Jr. 10-05-2003 08:01 PM

It's CASBAH i think :) , and current stats dont put netscape in a very high used rank. I havent used the last version in a while, It was so non-functional before that i had to give it up .

Nickless 10-05-2003 08:06 PM

fuck netscape and mozilla and all that fancy crap, Mosaic ROCKS!!!!

Nickless 10-05-2003 08:07 PM

mosaic + trumpet winsock all the way!!!!

goBigtime 10-05-2003 08:08 PM

Why are we still debating this?

This is the best browser.

This is the best plug-in for the best browser.

Madball 10-05-2003 09:19 PM

Too bad that Mozilla google plugin cant display pagerank

Nickless 10-05-2003 09:22 PM

drop it, you can't fight it anymore , iexplorer own3red it all long ago, by far, you geeks can cry all you want, iexplorer is and will be the standard, end of story.

IntenseCash 10-05-2003 09:24 PM

I agree with the new Netscape... much improved! IE sucks now!

Nickless,

I don't think you get it.

The unpatched security holes in IE are unacceptable. They had been issued a "fix" by Microsoft that didn't fix the problem (and it may STILL be vulnerable) - Microsoft KNEW this, and yet didn't bother to tell their customers about this continued critical vulnerability.

They were made aware of the critical bug almost a year ago.. maybe even farther back than that. It was buried.

Do you think the Mozilla dev team would get away with burying critical bugs like that? Hell no. It would be fixed within a day.

Maybe the reason you are nickless is because while surfing the web with your wonderful iexplorer you got "own3red" and someone stole all your accounts?

And btw, the old netscape/mozilla stuff did used to look pretty doggy. Not so with firebird anymore. Firebird is slick looking and plenty fast. :)

And aside from not having pagerank (:() that mozilla googlbar is far superior to even googles own toolbar once you start customizing it & adding direct search links to the search types you use.

TurboTrucker 10-06-2003 01:09 AM

Netscape is ok but it's a lot slower than IE.

Hue G. Pness 10-06-2003 04:10 PM

This is why I can't be bothered even looking at netscape.

MSIE 3682 91.25%

Mozilla 284 7.04%

Opera 46 1.14%

Netscape 13 0.32%

Unknow 9 0.22%

rowan 10-06-2003 04:21 PM

I have recently been 'infected' (twice) with a backdoor proxy that was auto-installed through an IE hole. I run with medium security settings and active-x on prompt, I am also fully patched with critical updates, but still a web site was able to create and execute a file on my computer.

The second time it happened I downloaded Mozilla and now use it as my default browser. I don't plan to change back to IE until that hole is fixed.

One of the infections came off a cheater using Choker's galleryspots - imagine how many surfers were infected with that trojan, and since it's a proxy I think you can guess what the cheater is planning to use it for...

caspuh 10-06-2003 04:25 PM

netscape doesn't rock the CASPUH and that's all that matters.

rowan 10-06-2003 04:27 PM

Check http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ , looks like a patch for that hole has been released.

Amputate Your Head 10-06-2003 04:28 PM

I have both Netscrape and Mozilla Firebird (for testing only). I still prefer IE.
Opera is a complete waste of time and hard drive space. I refuse to download Opera ever again.

Dawgy 10-06-2003 04:30 PM

odd, i have NEVER had an IE problem. if you protect yourself, as you should with any internet related software, you wont have problems. i prefer IE over netscape any day, but mainly because its what 93% of my surfers are using.

assimilate. :1orglaugh

rowan 10-06-2003 04:39 PM

Dawgy - how do you protect yourself from an application level security hole? :) The only way (besides patching) would be to run some sort of passthru application that changes the word "<object..." in all web page source code. That's why I was pretty much forced to change to Mozilla, there was no practical workaround for IE.

I submitted the file I was infected with to f-prot, I think this is it...

http://www.f-prot.com/news/vir_alert/qhosts-1.html

I've just run windows update to get my IE patched, but I'm not sure if I'm game to try and reinfect myself... the last infection overwrote Windows Media Player. :(

s9ann0 10-06-2003 04:51 PM

mozilla all the way
