Bad news for friends of mine :(
My neighbors and good friends next door to me did the artificial insemination a few months ago after 3 trys... the 3rd try took! :)
They just found out 3 weeks ago that they are having twins, but they just went to the doctor yesterday for a checkup. It turns out there is a rare development between the babies. One baby is getting an abundant amount of nourishment and the other is not getting enough. This is fatal for the babies as well as the mother. They have to get an emergency surgery that only 2 doctors in the US can perform. They are leaving for Florida Sunday. I was able to help them out in the cost of the flights to $100 for both of them roundtrip because my cousin works for Frontier airlines. They have to pay $14,000 upfront for the surgery and another $36,000 afterwards. Insurance does not cover. I want to help them any way I can for the costs. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Do you think people would help if I started a charity donation? |
Ohno. I hope that things work out fine for them, and I hope that they manage to get together enough money. This happening to me would kill me. :(
|
Sounds pretty unfortunate. Why don't you start a local community charity where people that know your friends can help?
|
My heart really goes out to them, I'm a soon to be father as well and I hope they can atleast save one child and the mother.
Maybe setting up a small TGP site and ask some webmasters to send traffic that way for a day, as a donation. |
Sorry to hear that, my heart goes out to them! I like the neighborhood charity or start like a paypal donation, maybe something like that :)

I am hoping everything turns out ok... He came over almost in tears yesterday... I have never seen him like that ever... he is a Wheat Ridge Police officer and she is a nurse.
As for the upfront surgery money... He was planning on buying a new truck in a few weeks so he had $13,000 for a down payment. He is going to put the remaining balance on credit cards. As for starting a local charity, do you think people would actually help? Thank you for your comments, I am not one for praying but I am praying for them. |
I do a lot of fundraisers for local charities and would be glad to give you a hand. Email me here at webmaster AT invizibletouch DOT com

I'm so sorry. That's so fucking unfair!
Little slut ho's running around and popping out unwanted babies left and right, or going to the abortion clinic every other week, and people who actually want babies have things like this happening to them. :feels-hot |
What kind of surgery is she having?
My sister had the same thing happen to her a couple of years ago. They called it "twin to twin fetal transfer syndrome" or something like that. Very rare indeed. It's good that they caught it early! My sister was not so fortunate. :( Best of luck to all involved! |
That's very unfortunate and hope everything turns out well.
However, what kind of health system you have that allows something like this to happen, a mother and 2 babies about to die and all they care is the $14,000 "up front" For sure nothing like this would happen in Europe. |
If you are not bullshitting, I can paypal you or mail you a check for 5 bucks... That is all I have right now. we have some problems also...

or in canada for that matter... My prayers are with them. I hope everything turns out ok :( |
Thank you all so much... I am going to see if I can setup a direct paypal account for them. and maybe a legal document to prove that the money goes towards them only.
I will post something to let everyone know. Thank you all so much. Jen and Kevin are a nervous wreak, I am doing what I can to calm them down and reasure them that everything will be ok. I am setting up this fundraising for them, I kinda want it to be a surprise for them...but I will let them know in a couple weeks what I have set up for them. I will let you know how the surgery goes as soon as I know. Thanks again, Chuck |
TTTS - Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome
When caught early it can be successfully operated on. Unfortunatelty in our case, we were not so lucky. Best of luck to them.. I have been there. My children lived for only a few days:-( Our insurance covered it though... we ended up having to pay a good amount of $$$, but fortunately the webmaster community came together and REALLY helped me out. Things always work out for the best though.. If it wasn't for that, I would not have my beautiful 3 year old daughter now:-) |
Man... you guys are going to make me start crying or something.
I never used to give a shit about this kind of thing, "just another surgery somebody has to have" but now that I have kids this kind of thing gets right into my gut... Wish them the best....:( |
