Netbilling Merchant Account setup ? worth it?

We are processing with Epoch right now and 15% is cutting a bit to much out of our profits considering our overhead is extremely high running movie sites with free hosted galleries and free gallery hosting for gallery submitters. Our site is wildpass.com it sells $24.95 memberships no trials.

Having a straight signup option with no trials is perfect for keeping chargebacks low. Nothing deceptive.

I am interested in maybe hooking up our own merchant account through netbilling, what does everyone think about this? Has anyone done this? if so what results did you have?

Sales go up? down? is it a nightmare handling this or does netbilling handle a part of it?

Also most processors take 15%, what is the FULL amount for netbilling with you own merchant account? 2 per for netbilling 3% for the banks so 5% total or is it more or less than that?

Look forward to your feedback

Cheers

Matt

Just chatted to a nice lady in sales at netbilling

For an Australian person they use a foriegn bank.
The bank charges 5-7% + 30-40 cents per transaction
Netbilling charge 1.5% or 45 cents per transction

Netbilling full phone customer service total of 80 cents per transction + 10 cents extra to use there fraud scrubbing.

So I figuire 90 cents for netbilling cause you want the scrubbing and 24 hour phone support for customers.

$24.95 x 3.5% = 87 cents (close enough to 90)

so
3.5% for netbilling
5-7 % for aquiring bank

About $2250 setup due to a company being setup in forgien country of the aquiring bank.

so best case 8.5%
worst case 10.5 %

And if you setup a US bank account & US SS number you can get 4% for aquring bank fees which is much better

Love to hear from anyone who has done all this and if they have had good results. Sounds well worth it.

Any idea on the delay on recieving money from the banks? 3 weeks like epoch or less?

Cheers

Anybody that has their MA setup and running smoothly is wise enough to shut the fuck up about it.

Netbilling is a good company and Mitch is a great guy. You can't go wrong going with them. I would like to put forward ourselves as another alternative also, I think that there is room for competition out there.

if the 15% from billing is causing your margins to be too low, you got bigger problems than finding a merchant account.

yes, its been worth it for us, though it takes a little while to set up.

Driven and Carlito,

You will certainly pay about 3% less for domestic (US) merchant account procesing vs. offshore. Paying 5-7% less than third party (IPSP) processing with Netbilling is just the start. Having the ability to offer custom join pages that cascade with MPA2 (if desired) as well as other affiliate management systems, cross-sells, custom tailored call center services, and check processing for only 3.35% and 40¢ are a few of the other servies Netbilling offers. Having the ability to control your own level of fraud scrubbing can increase your conversions up to 25%. Getting the merchant account setup is well worth the energy for the savings as well as the control you will gain.

Now that all ISPSs (third party processors) must register each sub merchant with Visa, each merchant must stay below the accpetable chargeback thresholds or can be shut down, just like having a merchant account. The playing field is level now for IPSP and merchant account processing. Another extremely important aspect to understand is that Netbilling does not do any thrid party processing and is not an IPSP so we do not stand the chance of webmaster chargebacks, Visa, Mastercard, or a bank, putting us out of business and taking all of the merchant s that we processing for down with us.

I am not diminishing the importance of the great IPSPs that are left in this business. I am friends with many of the other processor owners and their employees. We have our business model and they have theirs.

ANy questions, please feel free to contact us Toll Free within the US: (888)357-8166 / Outside the US: (661)252-2456.

Thank you, Mitch Farber
