My productivity sucks big time, what do I do wrong -- check my site!
 

Hi guys, I need your help. I've been in this business (celebrities to be exact) since 2000, but I've been out for 2 years. Now I'm working on my come-back, but it's hurting more than I hoped for.

When I launched my site back in 2000 I was a huge amateur, I did not know what I was doing. But I had success from day one. My traffic boosted out of nothing and cash started flowing in.
The past years I've been working several projects such as hosting, scripting and my general knowledge about the business has gone up from zero to decent.
Well, almost two weeks ago my site was ready to rock 'n roll so I started building traffic. As you can see it's a high quality content site (not a tgp), with hardly any blind links. All nonblindlinks automatically change positions in order to divide the traffic equally. I use TM3 for this. It all works like a charm, BUT I've got one frustrating problem:
MY PRODUCTIVITY SUCKS BIG TIME! (i.e. productivity at _my_ site)
It's not even approaching 1 (or 100%), and as a result my traffic hardly increases.

Now I would like to ask you guys to take a look (see sig) and tell me what could be a reason for this.
The top of the mainpage is completely jammed with outlinks: textlinks with description, thumbnails, a blind link. At the top of my content pages there's the 5 trades that owe most again.
A surfer will notice that all my links lead to sites that have content and are not misleading, plus that the description I have written about them is correct. So with this said, one would expect a surfer to click a lot right? He knows I'm not messing with him!
But well, that's not happening. Why not?

Well to start, the britney photo links at the top lead to evreything but her pics.. mirror1.. mirror2.. quite misleading if you ask me..

Sign up to sponsors such as lightspeedcash or the like and link the thumbs on you site to their galleries / tours. I think tawnee stone and co would blend in well with your site. As said above, give your surfers some flesh in order that they might stick around.

well, about the thumbs -- i'm planning to clean them up, i want to show thumbs that are a thumb of that site's daily pic or thumbs that represent the site's content if it hasn't got a daily pic. so about them you've got a point.

about the blind link -- at first when i started the site the blind link wasn't there... but then i noticed low productivity and then i looked at some other sites in the niche and they all had at least a few blindlinks or links such as my thumbs (perms but the surfer thinks it's a pic). so i thought well why trying to be holier than the pope while all my colleagues are putting up these (semi-)blind links as well. and their traffic is kicking ass while mine simply won't really grow. then i decided to put up one blind link (the 'hot news' box.)
perhaps i should get rid of it again?

the problem is not that there are no people who like to visit my site (i've got bookmarkers and they grow by the day).

the problem is that an average visitor doesn't click enough links.
one thing i could do is replacing the current thumbs with nude celeb thumbs, but then they would even feel more fucked up, because no way that they can find that nude celeb at the other site...

my productivity is the thing that sucks here.
and that's where i need your experience and opinions. please take a look at the site in my sig and tell me what might be causing the low productivity.

a few good things have already been mentioned:

- thumbs linking to trade partners: they have to be cleaned up. now they're pretty much blind links and when i use thumbs that reside on the site a surfer is sent to, they will be more satisfied.

- blind link at the top ('hot news' box) perhaps needs be removed, because it's pissing the surfers off. i'm not sure about this yet though, i'm seriously doubting if this is really gonna increase productivity, because i will miss all the click that are generated by the blind link now.

nobody mentioned a big issue yet; suggestions that could significantly increase mainpage's productivity...

man, if you think you're too good for this subject, just move ahead... if i would reply to every single thread that i think is boring, then i would have to start hiring right now.

simplify your mainpage.....cut out all the bs and put more photolinks of the celebs.........try putting out actresses that have a movie out right now or something

This isn't gonna increase productivity? YOUR main big box with the bigger thumbnails leads to a blind link! You clean your shit up and put that somewhere else maybe they'll click around, but right now, their not even check out your shit, because they see the britney and then they go to another site and get more interest with that site!

try checking out some of the other celeb sites.....actressarchives, ah-celebrities, etc... i like checking out the celeb stuff so i end up hitting the sites that have mass free content before i think sbout signing up

Dude, what the fuck! the more blind links you put up the less productivity you're gonna have, I have 3 total blink links on my site, then i have 29 galleries a day that is running 70% gallery then 30% to a trade!

Circle Jerk is a dying art. Go with a CJ2 style site. Actually put a gallery with a few pics behind the thumbs with maybe a 50-70% skim and they *might* come back. You'll surely lose them if you don't update alot though. Try and get more than 100% productivity and feed a bunch of traffic through and it might take off. If you don't get bookmarkers at least you'll be getting a click or so per visitor on average. Alot won't click at all but some will click on a few thumbs if they see they'll get content out of it.

And when all else fails, hitbot. :Graucho

yeah that was my strategy when i started out, but i'm now starting to doubt whether i should stick to it since the productivity is so low.
when i cannot get the prod. up with this pretty clean site, i'm afraid i'll have to start messing with them surfers again in order to grow traffic. :(

well, the content is there -- and daily refreshed so that should not be a big problem. also i *do* have bookmarkers and they're growing by the day. so i think that's all working fine.

the theory behind the current trade setup is that when visitors know they aren't messed with, then they're willing to check out some trade partners when they are done with my content for that day. i was hoping that this strategy would generate sufficient productivity. but since the overall prod. is not even 1 (100%), i'm thinking perhaps bitching with your surfers is the only way to really generate a decent productivity ?!?

the more blind links you put up, the less productive your traffic will be at other sites, but i don't see why it would be low at yours as well? you can promise them about anything, so they see all incredible stuff so they'll click! right?

but actually what you're saying is:
1. the more blind links, the worse your traffic, so avoid blinds.
2. i have 3 permanent blind links and all my galleries are possibly blind links (when they are skimmed, surfers click because they want to see pics and then they're sent to another site, that 100% blind linking)

if blind links are so bad, why not stop skimming and put links to trade partners on top of your site?

the celeb niche has changed a lot...much harder to get traffic and very few quality sites to trade with, most employ mass blind links. not sure what to suggest to up productivity. are your trades sending shitty hits?

well i don't think so, i've picked them all because they had at least a little bit of content and not too many blind links... some have a load of popups but as i grow i want to get rid of those annoying trades...
i would not know where to find better tradeable traffic for me at the moment...

plus a website i'm trading with (freesite/tgp) says he's got 200% productivity at his site, so at least that's a *lot* higher than mine. perhaps the fact that he has got gallery links which he skims has got something to do with it...
