Damn I feel old, Im only 25 but here Im ranting about MTV and shit (i know most here hate MTV as well..)

Im sitting down eating my lunch at 1:30pm EST, flipping the channels, I say to thyself, 'i wonder whats on mtv?'.... I never really watch MTV unless Im flipping channels, I might catch 5 minutes of it every other blue moon.

So I see this reality show is on, 'sorority life'... first thing i see is some bitch downing shot after shot, saying 'im gonna get hammered', and then talking about 'no im not gonna get naked like last time', in reply to one of her friends. Theres only this one girl, the rest are guys (about 4), and they are hanging out celebrating her bf's birthday or some shit. Every shot you see of her boyfriend, the kid seems like he's chain smoking ciggs. Some lanky mofo with a striped shirt that talked mad doofy and slow. Annoying. Later on it ends with the bitch talking about how she fucked her bf later that night cuz it was his birthday, but she dont really wanna be with him, its her first love and hard to break up from or some bs.

ok, now WTF.

I would say MTV's demographics are 12 - 25... well, i dont know about up to 25, but my beef is, why the fuck would they be airing some shit like this in the afternoon, when most kids are getting out of school. If anything they should air a bunch of college peeps getting drunk and smoking and whatnot later in the night, - but at fucking 1 in the afternoon?

your right and ive been on mtvs ass for a long time. They promote permiscous sex, drugs, smoking, etc.

Its 10-15 year olds that are getting their minds polluted with this shit.


Then these little girls fuck about 30 guys, and wonder why they cant find a quality guy that will marry them when they hit their 20s.

and whats worse... is the company that owns MTV, 'viacom', also owns 'nickelodeon', which is a kids network, demographics are like 2 years old to 16yrs... and you can see how this kiddy network props these kids up to be mtv whores later on in life... i mean the baiting is so obvious and shit.... they now show rap videos during the afternoon and have shows similair to 'TRL', and even an awards show ('kids choice awards')... its crazy...

15 years ago when i was watching both these networks, they were so damn different. I wonder what kind of trash these networks will be airing in the next 15 years..

MTV has sucked for at least 10 years or so.

a good example of the decline of mtv can be seen by the progression of the real world series. When it first started like early 90s it was really tame. Focused on building friendships etc, and nothing sexual.

Now fast forward to like that Las Vegas one. The whole entire series was centered around the roommates fucking each other. Litterally. And finding sluts for one night stands. It was nothing but sex, every single episode.

And young kids are watching that. They think, well, trishelle and steven can fuck every night cassually with no protection, I can to. Scary.

They don't force you to watch it

mtv2 in the UK is the only mtv channel I have watched for more than two minutes in the last 5 years. MTV2 in the states is different, I was sad to see when I visited home last.

MTV2 is a bit better since they actually show music videos, but MTV is just plain trash. I wonder why so many groups were protesting eminem for junk but no one is saying, wait a minute, MTV doesnt promote shit of good except for about 30-60 mins out of 24 hours of programming. Well really I dont wonder, people are stupid and blind, oh well.

All the TV related crap that is ingest with our eyes poison the fabric of American youth by telling them that this is just how society is so accept it, participate, and emulate if you want to be accepted/cool. The public as a whole has spoken and said ?It far more entertaining and $$$profitable $$$to show dysfunction then it is to show a function?. Until that changes MTV's Drunken Party Chicks are here to stay in the youth of Americas face.

Well at the same time I would also ask how many or rather what percentage of college students are actually accurately being depicted here? Its one thing if MTV just presents a singled out case, but if in fact the majority, or even something less than a majority but a large percentage are actually accurately being depicted by this portroyal, well then you can see the problem doesnt exactly lie with MTV but with society in general.

mtv was one of the coolest stations on tv......20 years ago. the first day it aired, me and my g/f's were glued to the tv nearly all day (we took off from school that day). ten years pass and here comes the real world. from that point, i just knew it was too commercial and when they started showing a girl in simulated situations with 2 hs guys, i knew i had seen enough. now i just watch it only if there is absolutely nothing else on. thank god for A&E or i wouldn't have anything to watch.

Cable boxes do have parental blocking controls.
Tits, Ass, and Sex has always been the focal point, even in the 80's.
MTV re-invents itself every 4-5 year just so adults do not get it anymore and they stay tuned to there demo, They gave us VH-1 for that purpose.
There are many stations that show stuff that is equally as bad during same time slots. BTW, kids should be in school at 1pm.
Not sure about others cable boxes, but mine does seem to have at least 100 stations of just music, most kid friendly.
Comericials on network stations can be just as bad.
I personally am sick of giving up adult choices for children's sake.

I feel the same way. You have to be responsible and set/limit what channels they can or can not view. Just like on the internet!

MTV has sucked ass since 1990 or so. I have not watched MTV in years the last few times I fliped it on it always seemed to be that real world bullshit so I fliped it off. Man I remember the good old days when MTV showed music videos. Last I heard if you want music videos now you gotta switch to MTV48 or some shit.
