RCMP to probe Radwanski's office, Auditor-General says
Auditor-General Sheila Fraser released a damning report Tuesday on the conduct of former privacy commissioner George Radwanski and his senior executives, saying that he had abdicated his responsibilities which led to a breakdown of controls over spending.
During a press conference in Ottawa Tuesday morning, Ms. Fraser said she is "outraged and saddened" by what she found. Ms. Fraser said she has asked the RCMP to investigate Mr. Radwanski and his senior executives. So far, the RCMP are investigating two specific cases, Ms. Fraser said, but she indicated that they could launch further probes. Police will investigate a $15,000 advance payment made to Mr. Radwanski that has not been paid back to the privacy commissioner's office since he resigned from office in June. Mr. Radwanski quit after a parliamentary committee found that he had lied about his expenses and had altered documents. The RCMP will also look into several cases of employees' taking both vacation time and the vacation pay for those vacations, she said. .... http://sympatico.globeandmail.com/se...ympatico-front Wonder what's next.... |
