Shopping for Plasma TV

I'm shopping for a flat panel tv/monitor. I would like to get the HDTV, but I don't think I can justify the price yet. Does anyone know what I should be looking for as far as models, size, pixels, etc.? Also, how much does it cost to get 'HDTV kit' down the road? Would that be the way to go or should I wait and get the Plasma with HDTV already intergrated?

Thanks!

Plasma TV's seem to be getting much more affordable in the US. When I was down in Miami I saw a 42" Plasma on sale for $2200 I am pretty sure is was a Phillips. Most of the Plasma TV's in Canada sell for $5000+

If I was going to get a Plasma TV I would get one with HDTV.

I have a regular tv with HDTV and its very nice.

yes,

non hdtv plasmas are being liquidated completely and if you buy one you are actually being ripped off. Manufacturers are selling them at pennies on the dollar to make room for the hdtv ones.

Either way its a sizeable investment. I have a panasonic hdtv model and I couldnt be happier with it.

The non hd ones are great if you just want to watch DVD's since it maxes out at 480 progressive. That mode will still all you to run hd sat and have a great picture just not the best possible.

I wouldn't buy a plasma yet.

if space is not an issue meaning you need to hang on the wall..

i'd go with this samsung DLP projection HDTV ... best picture hands down.. and it will last longer than a plasma

http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/P...TV_HLM617W.htm

they make it in a 61, 50, and 42 inch... and it does not have a huge base like most big screens and the 42 inch is only 11 inches deep...

ya i have the 50" and it is pretty sweet. but you have to pay and extra $500 to get a hd converter box for the channels. lol

Thanks for the response, however space is an issue. I'd like to get one that I can hang on the wall.

Check out an LCD screen first. The picture is much better and the screen life is longer.
