all i can tell ya bro. is i turned off my volume. and i turned off sigs.

so count me as just one more webmaster who is irritated enough by the neverending flash banners and the "suck my dick bitch" screaming punk music that i stopped watching ads.

I'd be willing to bet that every advertiser on here would be happy to have me see their sig and send them some traffic... i imagine the same goes for quiet.. and numerous others i have seen.

Alas, the actions of a few have made sure that i'll never see another new product ad. In fact not just sigs.. i actually AVOID even letting my mouse near the main ads because some of them are so fuckin loud and annoying that if i'm listening to music on my computer it blasts over it.

These tactics are lowering the value that advertisers gain from this board.

i'm sure we could come up with plenty of scenarios where the sounds can do wrong even if there arent kids in the room.

telling somebody to turn off their audio if they want to view a board is absurd. kinda the equivalent of telling somebody to turn off hahahahahahahahahaha if they dont like popups.. sure.. turning off js will stop popups... but it also disables so much other functionality.

Just for the record - what Hooper said. Sigs are now off and banners never get a mouse even close to them any more.

But then this business loves trying to make an extra buck now and fucking itself up for the long term. It almost takes a pride in it.

My kid doesnt have to be in the same room to hear some bullshit 'fuck yea' banner blurting out my speakers. I play my music kinda loud... so i usually have my volume up. I have logitech z-60 speakers... my whole house can hear what music I play. I like to listen to music while I surf, and I'll be damned if I have to turn my music volume down because of some asshole sound banner.

Unwelcomed sounds are intrusive, period. I only expect to hear sound on my PC when I play music, or watch a movie. I have all other sound events disabled. I hate going to some dopey flash site that has 10 different choices of music playing with 20 different mouseover sounds for every other fucking button. You wanna give me a fucking choice, then give me a choice to turn the music ON, not OFF.

Its one thing to hear it unexpectedly when you purposely mouse over a banner, its another when you ACCIDENTALY mouse over. Sounds in banners are fucking GAY. PERIOD.

I hate sounds in banners myself, this was not a prosoundsinbanners thread.

My post was that any parents on this board should not be surfing this board with kids in the room.

I get where you're coming from...but I have my laptop here in front of my recliner chair in the living room...I don't surf porn or anything like that and it's always easy to just scroll down to the words when my kid is close...I've been surfing this board for years and my kids haven't seen anything....when my kids are in the room, the only thing I CAN do is surf GFY and maybe check some stats...

Now when my kids can read, it might be a different story.....

But I hate the sound banners. It's gotten to the point where I'm really considering setting up nutscrape or something just for GFY and leaving the sounds off on it.

I have music on 24 hours a day, and usually pretty loud. I even sleep with music on.

And at least 10 times a day I fucking get hit with one of those fucking GFY banner sounds, and it really fucking blows.

Not only do they try and pick the dumbest sounds, its usually some amateurish implementation, the sounds are too loud and clearly placed by inexperienced people.

I predicted this with the first banner though. I said it would get worst ;)

The whiners should just turn off the speakers like I do..

All the sounds on banners do is make me instantly refresh so I get a banner without sound. I can't even tell you what the sponsors are, just the sounds that are made.

Well that's just confusing.

I don't surf with my kids in the room.. They have their own playroom, however, if I forget to turn my speakers down or I was doing something that needed sound, THEN the banners are a pain in the ass, they can hear it from their room.

I have the digital cable music channels and instead of leaving the TV on I go to sleep with music on and without commercials.

Banners with sounds are an annoying pain in the ass.. Its funny how when there were banners with sounds aimed at surfers it was said it was a crappy idea (by many webmasters)

Then voila! now us webmasters get banners with fucking sound.. Sorry to say but it makes me wanna join the program even less..

There are sounds on GFY? I have my laptop muted and I keep my desktop speakers turned off. I learned about 7 years ago that sound and computers don't mix. Who needs it?

They arent paying any attention to what I am doing.
there really isnt anything too outlandish here.
I always surf with images off anyways pertaining to other adult sites.

I monitor my kids online and make sure they do not go to adult sites as all parents should.
But this is 2 different things entirely,
if they came up behind me I would minimize the page but they dont give a care what Im surfing.
