Large e-mail lists. How to manage?
 

Say, you had a few hundred million addresses and you wanted to dump them together and bust them into batches of say, a million....

How could you?

Is there a program to do this?

in unix command line mode do:

split -l number_of_lines_per_chunk file

Listmate search for it.

Do a search for Elist pro.

I agree. I've never been into mailing, and it sounds like a whole can of worms to me anyways. Besides, I don't think I have the time.

I don't even mail my own clients from a database. If I mail individuals, it's by hand.

But, I know some people mail a lot, and have BPH or whatever.

People have asked me for addresses in the past, and I didn't have any or plan to get any, but, now sorta by accident, I have 500 million.

I guess they're worth something to someone, I just don't know what.

If you have 500 million email addresses, chances are every single one is almost worthless. :)

I come here for information, a lot more that to sell stuff. Even if someone came to me to BUY e-mails today, I don't even have anything even close to ready to sell even if I wanted to.

Could be. How do I find out? Who can I ask? I know a lot of poeple send mail, but I don't know jack about it.

Never has been my thing. I don't know if they're worth 50 bucks, 500 bucks or 10 million dollars. I can't even guess. :(

We run mailers WITHOUT using proxies or spoofing. Straight IP mailing.

You have to do several things with this list.

1: If you don't have a program that can open the 500 million, break it into smaller chunks.

2: Run a search against a known remove list ( I am sure someone will let you use theirs )

3: Validate... a soft MX look up .

4: mail and hope not to get shut down :D Track your opens and have a REAL remove link !

There are i believe 600 million people using internet.

The chances you have almost all of them are reallllly small.

Thank you for the info. I have a lot of files, some are .txt, some .rar and some .zip.

Someone is sending me listmate pro. All I want to do is organize them for now. Not sure I really want to get into mailing. I dunno, but I never have.

I recommend you elist pro as well! very easy program to work with and handles very big lists. Or you can always send me the list and I will take care of it for you within no time :thumbsup

bottom line if you have 500 million email addresses they are worthless. not targetted towards anything and half probably dont even work anymore. Chances are it would cost more to send out than they would make.
